Why is the world silent about what's happening in afghanistan?

We were at war with them and lost tons of resources trying to install democratic governments that failed, training a military that (rationally) didn't fight the taliban's takeover of the country after we pulled out.

We pumped tons of money into Afghanistan. That investment failed. As much as I'd like to blame Biden, the only fault I can find there is announcing in advance to the Taliban about a withdrawal, and not pulling out more US citizens and green card holders. Or using thermite on all munitions and equipment left.

Why in the world would we pump more money in to relieve them of famine? Our presence was rejected soundly there for two decades. People die, and we consider helping them, when our enemies die, we have a drink.

Not much that can be done, really. I think the US is done with foreign nation building for a while - we were never any good at it and frankly have neglected a lot of our own nation to rebuild. And the US was pretty much the only country thay was interested in it.. well, russia i guess was interested but they're also busy.

In case you've been too tunnel-visioned to notice, most other people and countries in the world have a plethora of their own problems to deal with, and Afghanistan is not a subject that western countries, especially the United States want to acknowledge right now.

It's the system they know and love. Though it has to be a painful transition after getting off the massive funding the US put in. Like having a sugar daddy who wants you to listen to NPR, and read the paper, leaving him, then your first night of "freedom" ends in a kidnapping.

I could trash on many of Biden's decisions, getting the hell out of Afghanistan is not one of them. We've been there way too long and have no results to show for it besides casualties and debt on our side. Let them keep making their heroin, and fall into chaos. Our whole goal 20 years ago was to prevent terrorists from organizing and striking the US. That's easy if they're broke, can't read, write, and are infighting. Maybe in another decade their IED manufacture will go backwards as well.
