Thanks to the U. S. for recruiting, arming and training the fundamentalist Islamic Taliban hords in the 1970s in order to overthrow the government that was on friendly terms with the USSR. The U. S. didn't give one fuck about the Afghani people. It just wanted to give the USSR a taste of its own Viet Nam.

Before then, Afghanistan was progressive. Many people wore western-style clothing. Girls attended college wearing what we would consider to be normal clothing with no head coverings.

But after the Taliban pushed out the USSR and overthrew the government, they instituted Sharia law, forced women to wear full burkas, banned education and music, tortured and murdered thousands, and carried out a reign of terror. Afghanistan was plunged into the Dark Ages.

When the U. S. invaded Afghanistan after 911 to "defeat terrorism", it fucked up the country even more. Did the U. S. ever think it could colonize "the graveyard of empires"?

Now the Taliban are back.

I feel incredibly sorry for the wonderful Afghani people. Thanks to the USA. that has left nothing but death, destruction and misery in every country it has meddled in since 1953. It has destabilized the world and led to backlash. Fuck imperialism.

It demonstrates yet again that American policies are dumb.

Sadly a lot of American soldiers died for this dumb policy. If was the same as Vietnam. There was not a clear mission or vision to actually win the war. It was a hole to throw away a lot of money for subcontractors and service members.

Ironically the military had the power to win either war, but politicians back home messed it all up. And that started when the war started. Biden just gets the credit for pulling the plug.

It was a win for the Taliban for sure. But I get where your going with this though. The USA left a lot earlier than expected and the Taliban were quite patience at the gates of Kabul allowing people to flee. Maybe there was some back door dealing who knows in the game of political warfare. Hopefully the Taliban are able to reunite this divided country as no foreign power should control those that they do not understand. People can say what they want about them but its not my place to judge what is yet to unfold

Maybe, Maybe the USA and the Taliban came to an agreement for the opium trade so the US doesn't have to spending billions of dollars pretending they are at war for some BS reason that or the high and mighty USA and NATO just aren't able to keep the war going through the shadows. This morning for the first time in my life I actually watched live first person video and audio coverage of war as it happened in Kabul, Afghanistan. I am a veteran marine and career cop/detective, and not cynical, yet hardened to the ways of our world. Nonetheless, it was disturbing to hear small children playing in some nearby schoolyard or playground while sporadic small arms fire and numerous helicopters and fast moving jets flew overhead. As I expected, the tempo picked up as the sun went down in Kabul, shortly after which the live feed was terminated. As the Taliban regain control I doubt any of us will see another live video feed without any kind of staging.

USA is there Afghanistan for 20 years! and still failed. The fact that when USA pulled out and Taliban took control easily shows that US-NATO coalition had been losing all along these years.. Afghanistan is where empires dies as they say.
