Well, with gas and diesel prices rising, do you think most of those homes will be able to afford heating oil when it comes time to stock up? You can break diesel into gas, heating oil is diesel. It's just taxed lower, add on a higher fuel price for delivery, plus a higher cost for the fuel itself, some people will be freezing, or trying to burn things indoors with poor ventilation and suffocating.

Also you can convert a gas powered car to LPG, propane has only gone up by pennies through all this. I'm waiting on a forklift tank, and my other car to get out of the shop to pilot my back-up car to a propane conversion, mainly to see how far it can go before requiring a refill, before converting my other 2 cars with 2 forklift tanks in each of them as they can be used for more long distance driving. Regardless if the next administration brings gas down, I'll still get a massive tax credit as that's an "alternative energy" vehicle.

Screw electric. Even if they were cheaper, you still need to replace the batteries besides other maintenance. We still don't have mature brushless motor technology, or batteries to throw at that. Capacitors are coming a long way for bicycles and scooters to shuttle back and forth short distance though. With Propane I just have to be on the look out for ace hardware and tractor supply going cross country.

Electric vehicles are powered primarily by coal fired power plants. If you are concerned by carbon footprint, which I am not, that should be a concern.

Probably just off the cuff comment. Gas prices are up everywhere except in the Middle East.

The USA has little control of the matter.

Regarding electric cars. Actually most of the electricity comes from oil, gas and coal burning. The point of going electric is to clean up the smoke pollution in cities so dumbasses like you can live a little longer.

Also, you get more out of burning oil, gas and coal at an electric generator (gives consistent 45% efficiency). Whereas a combustion engine gives an inconsistent 33% efficiency. Hence they get more for their money going electric.

Hence it's laughable you buying into the "less reliant on the petroleum industry" conspiracies. If anything you're becoming more reliant on the petroleum industries as they not only produce the raw fuels for electricity but also manage it's burning and manufacture if more people go electric.
