Oh please! The notion of Rep. Ocasio-Cortez as President is something on the order of handing the keys of the car to an 8 year old. It is not likely to end well.
Truth in advertising, I have worked in or with Congress since the late 1980s and Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (as well as her two colleagues Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar) are probably three of the least impressive Members I've ever seen. That's saying a lot given the likes of Steve King and Maxine Waters, to cite two other examples of elected officials the fact of whose election causes one to wonder if democracy is really a viable political system.
However, give Rep. Ocasio-Cortez her due. She is where she is because she was able to defeat in a primary a senior incumbent Democrat - Joseph Crowley - who had been slated to succeed Speaker Pelosi upon her retirement. (Her general election victory - given the nature of the district (NY-14) -- was less impressive. A squirrel with a "D" after it's name could carry the district.)
Ocasio-Cortez has shown a keen eye for how to get attention and an understanding of the social media age that other more senior politicians have yet to fully grasp. Moreover - and why this has escaped media attention is beyond me - she is being backed by some big money, her protestation of her proletarian origins notwithstanding.
These are not insubstantial accomplishments and they take no small amount of "smarts." In this she deserves a certain amount of recognition if not respect.
The problem is that if she were in Ringling Brothers, she would be impressive. In a Member of Congress it is less so. She may have an eye for publicity, but she appears not to be well educated, is intellectually lazy, and displays all the self-control of - as George Will put it - an arrested development teenager.
She calls herself a socialist, but the evidence that she has ever read a page of Marx is scanty. Her policy prescriptions are a rag-bag of the fantasies of American liberalism and the trendy issues of the moment. (See the "Green New Deal." A resolution so poorly thought out that it caused the Senate Minority Leader fits when the Republican majority allowed its consideration on the Senate floor.)
Then there is her recent comparing of American immigration detention facilities to Nazi concentration camps. A more grotesque and historically ignorant comparison it is hard to imagine. Yet one she defended all the more when called out on it by various Jewish groups, including the President of the Holocaust Memorial.
Her staff work is slipshod. (See also the Q&A she issued pursuant to the Geen New Deal a few years back.) Her principles shallow - she has racked up one of the highest uses of air travel and Uber car use in Congress, and she was hilariously caught munching on a hamburger. Her mistakes suggesting a thin understanding of the issues that she presumes to care about. Her infamous "we're all dead in 14 years" moment as Exhibit B.
To this AOC adds a heedlessness of how the House works. Her remark declaring herself to be "in charge" being the height of adolescent arrogance and presumptuousness. Her attacks on her more moderate colleagues suicidal in terms of her ability to advance her own agenda. (Please note that AOC has one the lowest rates of getting legislation she has sponsored through Congress of any Member.)
CONT.
To all this is added her lack of self-awareness. She defeated her primary opponent because he failed to attend to his district. Yet it only took her a year and a half to open her own district office. That is a cardinal sin in political world.
Pack it all together and one gets the impression of a sanctimonious, self-absorbed, poorly educated and impulsive character hose only notable attribute is a gift for self-promotion. Not unintelligent, however, but certainly not wise. Indeed, the greatest irony being that AOC resembles nothing so much as a left leaning Donald Trump.
No thanks. One such figure in the nation's history is quite enough. As it is, AOC is a living argument for raising the age for serving in the House from 25 --- to 70.
Occasional Cortex understands that if she were to even run for office and won the primary that she'd actually have to debate someone on the right, correct? Or would she just skip the debates, say some incoherent crap about her boyfriend's feet and catcalling, and accuse the world of racist misogyny like she usually does when challenged? Regarding the primaries, she'd have a very hard time - her popularity outside of her own district is non-existent, and the Democrats have hundreds of better-spoken, less embarrassing options to pick from. She might make it into the Senate someday, but she's more likely to be a Pelosisaurus who will spend the next 50 years as a parasite to taxpayers.
If she ran and won (legitimately), then I think the USA would fully deserve to collapse; it would be beyond salvation.

I have not yet had my dinner and wish I had not read this question before eating.
Considering that if that ever happens, her first act will xe to reveal that she's actually Sarah Palin in a Scooby-Doo villain mask, I don't think that's going to be an issue.
This question is better than the question a guy asked about whether or not girls can feel a guys sperm bitting their insides. My hat is off to you!
what kind od question is this. Bad enough we have a senile president, we do not need a crazy president.
She will need to be a trans male to be the US president, kiddo.
I'm pretty sure that will never happen in my lifetime, so this is a moot question.
Democrats cheated to get dementia Biden in , but they couldn't cheat enough to get her in. She is as popular as Hillary.
She won't ever be, and biden isn't respected even by his camp, so...
She will never become one thank god,
and we don't need a female president
as your commander in chief yes
as a person no
🇺🇸 Katie Porter for President 🇺🇸
Her becoming president is next to impossible.
Hahaha, I hope I'm dead. And fuck no.
She is too insane (in a bad way) to qualify
neeeeiiighh
Interesting premise.
