Why does the United States accept immigrants?

USA is a country of immigrants, its literally written on your statue of liberty:

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame

Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand

With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

More relevant though, pure self interest. USA is fueled by immigration and without it you can't sustain yourself without major economic and social reforms. It is what is keeping the economy running so to speak.

Broaden scope

War isn't fun for anyone and we try to avoid it

Our enemies feel the same

Why do we go to war? For land and resources

So what do we do? We Trade

We trade what we have on mass to what they have on mass instead of trying to do it all ourselves and end up with less in the end.

Better for both sides.

It also prevents war, because do you want to bite the hand that feeds you? No you don't

This is why Trade Wars are bad aswell, but a softer move to avoid a break to one of the only things protecting us from going to war.

What's attached to that Trade agreement? Immigration.

When people from other countries immigrate, trade increases positively. Legal immigrants is actually a positive for the country in a healthy economy.

The problems arise when it's illegal immigration and the economy isn't healthy and it's not being treated as it should, which is "what's good for us and the country?"

Pretty much all countries in the world have immigrants. Some just have more than others.  Besides most Americans are the descendants of immigrants and they help the nation.

Because that's the whole point of the country; to be a place where meritocracy, due process, atd free expression are the ruling principles. It hasn't wocked out perfectly. but we're making progress.

Also, because if we didn't, we'd be on a path to extinction; we're breeding WAY below ceplacement level.

The US has a tradition of being the melting pot of the world. In the beginning it was a way to have a population that will help build the world's greatest nation. Now it appears it is just a way to attract uneducated and indigent people who will collect public assistance and vote for democrats.
