People would scramble to reestablish them. But in the end people would start complaining about the parties and lobbyists again. Simply because things would go right back to where they are. So we would be right back to lobbyists buying influence for their employers and people on both sides of the isle ignoring this. Well they will ignore when officials on their side engage in conflicts of interests policy making. But when their opposed side does, it suddenly an issue.

The same people would start the same tricks under the table. In practical terms, the only thing that would change is that you wouldn't know who'd been bought by who.

Except in Italy. They'd probably stop bothering with democracy at all, and just pick a random citizen to be dictator for a year.
