Is it okay to ask dog owners walking their dogs to pet their dogs?

Sometimes, I see dog owners walking their dogs.

Im on the riverwalk, tons of people with dogs pass. I petted a few dogs that ran to me. Usally it depends on the persons demeanor. I always say can i say hi to your dog as it runs to me. Im usually sitting on the bench on my cell. But everyone? id say no. No one really cares you ask. Except some people don't want anyone to bother them at all. Other people usally girls, because im a guy, are happy you asked..

I basically wish I could hug every dog lol. But no, it's not really appropriate to go around petting people's dogs. I usually just let them sniff my hand before sadly departing. Oh well.

Sure it's ok if you are friendly and ask the owner, some might not like it though.
