Do you believe history repeats itself & what can I do for it to not happen again?

nothing, history always repeats itself. it's just part of the cycle. because each generation forgets the lessons of the past. and eventually the people teaching those lessons drift and share the wrong information or water it down because the truth is ugly.

in the end the same 3 phases of society always take place

barbarism: we have no social norms so we do big violence to establish them
stability: we have social norms but we remember the violence, so we viciously defend them and are properly intolerant
decadence: we are no longer willing to hurt others for the norms as we have lived in peace too long and we don't remember the big violence

Repeats? No- but it echoes. The sad and sorry truth is that sometimes, the only moral course of action left to a person is to lower your visor, raise your spear, and charge full-tilt down the path of most resistance. It's not much fun while it's happening, but it DOES make for a better story, afterwards.
