Do you agree that those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it?

Blah blah blah
ehose who broke the law need to be arrested and deported.
who is bothering to scream for help for the children that went missing while breaking the law? Where are those children?
it is your fault and those who think like you that those children are kissing, being trafficked. Sexual slaves or organ donors. Their lives gone because of people like you.
Find the children!! Stop trashing the place you came to illegally demanding people accept you gracefully and not caring about all the children that have mysteriously disappeared. The sick Biden administration is responsible for that and for what’s happening this very moment.
stop comparing it to Nazis in Germany you lunatic.
Trump is just as bad as Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin mao Castro and pol pot. If he continues to be in power after his final term the country and this world is royally screwed. I thought bush Jr was bad, but at least he wasn't trying to build a wall of racism. Did you know they don't like each other?
We can snapshot and encapsulate pretty much anything we want now but would that mean we learn anything from it? We might understand it but we've hardly ever really learned any lessons from just knowing things. At best we just avoid doing it the exact same way we did it before but even that's not always true...
Yes, it looks like it’s going that way. January 6th and the Munich Putsch were the same thing. They made the leader chancellor 10 years later, and the other President only 4 years later.

Those who lose their way in history mistake the executioner’s dagger for a torch and become all the more easily manipulated. History doesn’t merely answer the question ‘what happened in the past’; it shows time and again that a sleeping society first loses its freedom and then its life.
That's an overly strong statement. Being condemned to repeat it is not necessarily true, but it is better to learn from the past, and use that knowledge to determine one's current and future actions.
Those who can remember are just as likely to think it's a good idea. The only thing history teaches is that we learn nothing ftom history.
at first, I thought you were talking about ICE , seems similar to that anyway to what is going on here in the United States, but yeah, of course if you don’t remember history of them, you’re going to make the same mistakes as the past and not learn from it
True in a way. I mean you don't just have to keep things in my mind that has happened in the past but also take an action that will help you avoid the same thing from happening again.
Of course. This is because human nature is like breathing. If you put humans in a situation similar to one from the past, human nature will cause them to do the same thing.
Here's an example from 1968 which is pretty much descriptive of MAGA today.
I do. And I think the even scarier group of people are the ones who remember the past but do the same things anyway because they think they know better and are too wise to fall in the same traps.
Yes, because people have stupid ideologies and racism will always exist people try and suppress their country. Take away rights and kill those that they don’t like
Looking at today's state of affairs I would say this is a likely true question.
Anne Frank - that's a while back.
I think that... only remembering the past does not do the trick. We also must understand it, analyze it for ourselves, and build the bridge to the present.
That statement is usually an abstraction levelled at collectives. On an individual person basis, "remember the past" usually means things on the level of "don't leave the oven on when you step outside".
No. Worse. They know the past, yet still repeat it. 😔
Not everyone lived through it to remember it, but I agree that "those who do not understand the past are doomed to repeat it".
While it's not always the case history does show that is often the case.
Probably for the most part. I think each person should know the history of that position at the very least. Like every president should know all the history of all the presidents to know their mistakes and successes
Bad people learn from it more than good people,,,
The older I get I realize, we repeat it anyway weather we know or not!
Ms. Frank would see some echoes of her and many, many other folk's ordeal in today's USA !!!
Yep those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it
Maybe the past in there lives is best forgotten.
I believe that is true.
Yes absolutely increases the odds
Naturally
It could happen
