How many feel gun control is pointless unless it is federal?

One argument I hear, is that Chicago has mass number of shootings but has the strictest gun laws. How many people think it's because neighboring states have very loose gun laws? Do you think these people are going to WI or IN to by their firearms? If there is a complete federal gun ban, do you think guns will still find their way into a criminals hands.

What, so you think that Wisconsonites buy guns to go shoot people in Illinois? Not even Packers fans are THAT crazy. If the laxer gun laws induced people to shoot each other more, there'd be MORE gun violence in neighboring states, not less.

No, that isn't what I said. I said people on the left are saying Chicago, while having some of the strictest gun laws, still has shootings every day and night because people from Chicago, go to neighboring states to get their guns.

That's exactly what you're saying: that the easier legal availability of guns outside of Illinois prompts Illinoisans to buy guns there, which they use to shoot each other. But if that were the case, than it's either nonsensical (since the people who LIVE in those states would likewise be motivated to shoot each other) or an argument FOR laxer gun laws (since it'd be the strict laws making people homicidal). Either way, your assessment doesn't work.

Chicago's violent crime problem is almost entirely driven by gang violence, which the city government has long refused to do anything about. No amount of passing laws against law-abiding citizens is going to fix Chicago.

There are 450,000,000 guns in private ownership in the US. If there was a federal gun ban, most all would be lost in boating accidents.
