Why do companies try to force ethics on us?

Hey peeps,

While watching the telly, and the inevitable ad breaks, I noticed that in a lot of adverts, various companies like to crow on about something called "ethics". Why do these companies feel the need to force ethics on to ordinary, hardworking people. When I buy stuff, I want to buy the item based on how good value it is and how it meets my needs, not how ethical the makers are. I couldn't give two fucks about ethics. Now, it's being forced on me. It's ethics rape...

Eh, it’s “cool”. Yeah, half these companies don’t REALLY care… and if it was more profitable to take an opposite viewpoint, they’d do that. Some do want that “opportune” money - they’ll throw those causes a bone and bet on getting more money from individuals who make up those groups. Sometimes it’s pure greed.

I suppose, devils advocate, that many companies feel they will be counted as “the enemy” if they didn’t take some popular political stance outright. Like even if they legitimately supported the issue personally, but didn’t make it company policy to the point of groveling and bringing it up all the time, they’d be boycotted.

Of course, there are companies that are trying to do something political, or to be genuinely charitable (so of course, they’d be more vocal about related issues) - but since everyone has to crow, when they do it, it sounds like a manipulative ploy. And not every company has to be blatantly political.

I’m an entertainer. I try to keep my mouth shut about politics because I am tied to my “brand.” Now me, I personally have causes I support, I just try to keep it personal or keep quiet about it, especially when everyone is so ready

to fight about “micro aggressions.” Everyone ready to be triggered.

It’s like dealing with an overly sensitive date. “So you didn’t say I looked nice today, then you must think I’m hideous today!” “If you said I looked pretty today, then you’re telling me I look like a dog faced creature yesterday.” (Fight starts)

I personally tend to roll my eyes when they give some overly political, legal team approved, committee processed sounding paragraph full of “buzzwords” that usually don’t say much. Personally I feel less likely to use these companies because it sounds so overly polished and fake, but it’s popular at the moment, so you almost can’t get away from it.

It's more like the larger growing consumer base are investing into these companies because of ethics. That's the free market for ya.

None of these companies do anything for free and if they make a dollar more they will jump through a hoop to do it. Take all the gay pride sells this month. better than anything antigay people are selling so they can shove off.

It's like the old adage that if you need to be told to "be nice" all the time, then you're really only an arrest or incident away from being a fucking jungle dweller.

Because, ultimately all they care about is generating money as this signifies success. Government can impede their success. Business echoes Government worldview which is what underpins cultural Ethics.

You have companies DON'T make sell stuff to you because you want it or it makes you happy. They sell you sh! t to make a PROFIT & make their SHAREHOLDERS HAPPY!
