Whats your opinion on SH scars in public view?

Should you cover them up in public or is it ok to not?
Do they make you uncomfortable?
Do you stare when you see someone with them?
Whats your overall opinion on this?
I personally cover them up to avoid making other people uncomfortable and to limit staring, but I don't know how people really feel about seeing them out and about and I think it'd really help if I knew what other peoples views towards SH scars are.

Hm, I dont think I would notice it on people since I dont pay that close attention so someones skin outside of their face and more often SH scars are done in places like the inner folds of legs, arms, stomach, etc.

SH scars dont make me uncomfortable as I had a childhood friend that used to do it and understand the reason behind it. If I did notice it on someone I would do my usual quick glance that consist of 2 seconds and keep it moving. Probably pay that person a compliment about how positive their aura is or something to put some pep in their step for the day. Kind of selfish of me to do since I just like watching people be happy and light up.

The only time I make sure covered is at business meetings etc.

rest of time I do not really think about it.

the odd fresh one I cover as friends get a bit narky with me lol.

At times you know or rather suspect a person has then due to how they cover wrists or other body part.

as you get older, you will reach a point of acceptance, the important thing is to not add to the collection, find a different level of release.

My daughter used to harm herself when she was in school. She couldn't handle the stress. She has a lot of scars on her wrists. She was ashamed of them when she stopped harming herself, so much so that she got a tattoo to cover them.

I feel for you brother I was rarely home during my twin daughter's lives due to military obligations until I retired from the military after 18 years and by then my little girls had become young women and my son a young man. Since retiring from the military I became a Systems engineer with a major contractor. I am working 50+ hours a week every week and home every weekend. I don't even know how to begin to make things up with my beautiful wife and children other than to protect and provide for them at this point and to enable my daughter's and son to enroll in whatever college they wish and to be able to provide the life my wife always wanted. In our later years. An to be able to walk my daughter's down the Aisle when they decide to marry trust me full background checks on any guy interested in my daughter's lol 😉

I wouldn't say you "should" cover them up, but I do think it might cause unwanted curiosity or attention from others. Sometimes it isn't necessarily judgement from them, either, but rather curiosity as to what the marks are, or whether they accidentally or SH. If you just want to keep things simple, covering them is the way to go. But if you don't mind the added attention or staring of others, you can show them.

I personally don't self harm, but I understand why people do it so seeing it on people in public doesn't really have a negative affect. I can somewhat relate because chances are we're going through something similar.

Tbh I find them interesting and I find those who wear them proudly to be brave they are breaking stigma and should be looked up to in my opinion
