Under Trump, the U. S. was energy-independent. We had plenty of fuel, and were exporting some to other countries. Biden, no doubt told to do so by his radical left handlers, shut down the pipeline, and although he permitted oil leasing, he prevented any drilling on those lands, which defeats the whole purpose. Now we're a have-not nation and have to import our fuel from other countries, when we would have all we need right here.
I don't think Biden sees, or is capable of seeing, the consequences of the decisions he makes. His policies are having a devastating effect upon the lives of ordinary Americans. Inflation is not some incidental temporary inconvenience, it is a major issue affecting the prices of food and medicine, in addition to fuel. And the Dems by and large don't care, because they have another agenda. They want us all to buy electric cars. First, electric cars are unaffordable to most middle-class working people. Second, the infrastructure of charging stations everywhere does not exist, and if it did, our supply of electricity would not be sufficient; and third, electric cars simply do not have the range of miles that a gas-powered car has. And then, battery manufacture requires elements, such as lithium, of which the main source is China. Aren't we dependent enough on China as it is, without increasing our dependence upon China? Charging a battery fully, with present technology, takes many hours. Even a quick charge to get you a short distance takes 20 minutes at the charging plug. There's no such thing as pulling in for quick fill-up. We somehow don't hear about the downsides when we listen to the over-idealistic progressives.
I did not vote for him but I really wanted him to do a good job. He has managed to screw the pooch on every single issue facing the nation. A lot of this seems to be intentional.
Let me explain.
The federal government is 30 trillion dollars in debt.
But they collect taxes as a percentage of sales, income, property values. It's all percent based.
If the value of the dollar drops to half what it is now, prices double, and they collect twice as much in taxes. But the 30 trillion dollars doesn't change.
Imagine you owed someone more money than you had, but you controlled the value of money. You might be tempted to cause massive inflation so the value if your debt would drop to much less and be easier to pay off.
It's essentially a short stock position, but instead of trying to run tesla into the ground they are doing it with the entire economy.
And while we're on the topic, your shelves and gas tanks have been going empty because the easiest way to cause massive inflation is to increase the cost of transportation. Every tangible products cost is linked to the cost of getting it there in a truck. They are trying to stop the trucks so they can skip out on their debts. They don't care if your babies starve. It's all about the money.
@Lost_in_the_Woods Interesting theory on this. I can see how this might work but I doubt that there is plan to reduce the deficit by having prices go up. Politicians put their own interests first and the backlash of massive inflation will result in a lot of Democrats getting voted out of office. Not many would like to see that.
You think they really are just that stupid?
I think most of them are all in it together, bought out by billionaires, and they think the people will fall for blame covid and putin. They fall for enough lines like that and shit, a lot of people actually believe its putins fault.
I'm not saying you are wrong. They might actually be that bad at their job. Wouldn't shock me.
But I think they do it intentionally
That’s exactly what governments do. They absolutely will print money to settle debts. As far as they’re concerned, you voted for the people who incurred those debts. And those debts are our debts, because it’s all tax payer funded ultimately. So they’ll undermine your savings and retirements if they feel a debt needs to be settled, with or without your express permission. They count your vote as that express permission.
The inflation and gas prices have many causes, including his Covid stimulus packages. He’s partly responsible for how high it’s gotten, not fully responsible that it’s happened. It still would have
He canceled the pipeline and the oil leases.
He sanctioned Russia oil then even admitted himself it helped Russia and hurt the US, nato, and the rest of the world.
He backed out of a deal with Germany that had put Russias pipeline on hold.
He (and Obama) provoked the Russian invasion of Ukraine by violating the treaty that created it.
He has ruined the US transportation industry which did more to increase inflation than the stimulus.
He took us from energy independent where we could produce more oil than we needed it, sell the extra and set the global price of oil to fully dependent on Saudi Arabian and Venezuelan dictators to get to work...
There are other factors, but the huge spike really is mostly caused by bad decisions coming from the Biden administration. It's so much more than the "stimulus" money.
@Lost_in_the_Woods some of that is subjective, some of that I agree with. But we agree that he’s responsible for most of it, but not all of it.
this is a problem pretty much anywhere in the world now. I dont understand how some people blame Biden for it. And I dont even like the guy.

"Obviously, this would have happened regardless of who was president." Whan someone is making an argument and says "obviously" or "clearly," that usually points to a major flaw in their argument. You have no idea whether these things would have happened wth a different president in charge.
"We have no control over china being irresponsible." The more the USA is perceived as a major force which will not back down, the less other countries will do things to risk incurring our wrath.
"We have no control over Putin deciding to invade Ukraine." See preceding paragraph.
"There’s just a whole bunch of factors into play here where the world around us is falling apart." So stuff just "happens" and you wouldn't have blamed Trump if he had won re-election?
The pandemic itself didn't do as much damage as the federal response to it. The same can be said about many state government response to it. The lock downs themselves where going to create an issue in themselves. But when you add on top the stimulus payments and various other rescue packages it was only going to create more issues in the long run.
You have to remember that a lot of the value of money comes from how much of it is in circulation in the market. So it's like any other form of currency, the more in circulation in the market, the less it worth. For example the less gold in circulation in the market, the more valuable the gold becomes. But as more gold that goes into circulation in the market the less valuable it is. So much like gold the more money our government put out into the market, the less valuable it becomes.
Since the government didn't have the money for the various rescue packages it put out during the pandemic those packages put more money into circulation and devalued the dollar in both the national and international market. Hence the inflation we are dealing with. The fact that due to the lock downs caused a massive drop in tax revenue only compounded the issue even further. Simply because the government had to still be open and pay it's bills while taking in less taxes due to the lock downs.
In a lot of ways the lock downs and rescue packages where the government writing itself a i owe you. Since everything our government does is tax payer funded. It's the tax payers that get to pay that i owe you.
Presidents are someone to point fingers at. If people happen to like the president, they give them credit for good things they had little or nothing to do with. If they don't like the president they blame then for things they had little or nothing to do with.
Some things the presidents do really make a difference. But most things, both good and bad, happen without them.
Some people claim that it Trump was president, that Russia would not have invaded Ukraine. I call BS. The Russian leadership has shown itself to be so irrational and insane that the US president is completely irrelevant.
we can give him a break yes, he's human.
But he is pulling levers that are creating messes that he said he was going to create..."get rid of oil", open the border... he believes in that... so he is being consistent with what he said.
oil price not fully related to ukraine, that's baloney. they are selling their oil elsewhere. he popped the inflation genie out of the box and can't put it back in... gonna get rough...
So I hope he can hang onto that bucking bronco... but if can't get out of his clipless pedals, gonna get a lot rougher.
That said, he's got antifa under control, give him that...
The oil/gas prices have little to fo with the Ukraine war but mostly because during the pandemic no one traveled much and so they slowed up and shut down production now everyone is wanting to travel and the reserves are being used up as they try to increase production oil/gas prices won't come back into line until production is back to pre-pandemic production levels. Biden made a huge mistake in stopping the Canadian oil pipelines from being finished as all that oil would now be available to the US if the pipelines were completed.
I'd like to give the guy a break, the problem is that the situations you are talking about are actually largely Biden's fault... objectively so. Every single thing you've mentioned was, in part, a direct result of policy choices his administration made. It's a fundamental mistake to believe that the Chinese and Russians are "being irresponsible;" they're playing by a different set of rules than we are and now is their best time to make geopolitical gains.
These rises in gas prices objectively wouldn't have happened if Biden hadn't made it prohibitively expensive to extract oil/gas on US leases. That reduction in supply raised the price of Russian natural gas, which has funded Putin's war in Ukraine. Putin objectively would not have invaded Ukraine if Biden was a strong leader, because Trump directly told Putin he would nuke Moscow if Putin invaded, and obviously Putin believed him.
He and his administration works closely with the Feds who directly control the money market supply, ie inflation. So, no.
Being a politician sucks dick at times. They HAVE to make the money they do to put up with the bull shit from supporters. BUT, they are held accountable to voters. And they will be outed if enough people are pissed off. All the man can do is push for what he believes in, the public will decide if it’s what they want. He is courageous, despite his misgivings, for sure. Most politicians are, unless they’re sociopathic.
Dude, inflation was rising before the war in Ukraine. He and the Fed should have seen this coming.
As for the Pandemic, sure he deserves credit, because doing so saved the economy from going into recession. But now he has a different problem. A gas tax holiday might help.
You are correct. You don't have to like Joe Biden but how can Biden be responsible for the GLOBAL price of oil and GLOBAL inflation? If you are into pointing fingers, blame Putin's sinful war on Ukraine and blame the crooked Chinese government for not being honest about COVID and covering it up like the filthy assholes that they are.
Michigan must give degrees away now because you are one dumb shit
This is correct
@OlderAndWiser
Sadly, @888theGreat is breaking g@g rules.
No, we can't, because no one is stupid enough to vote Republican based on merit, so we must scream (at the top of our lungs) about any problem lying around (pointedly avoiding any talk about how it came to be) until it becomes the defining characteristic of Democrats.
Biden's executive orders raised gas prices 10 months before the Ukraine war. it was completely Biden's fault.
Him falling off the bike actually had to do with the kind of pedals that some road bikes have where the bike shoes turn and lock into place preventing your shoes from coming off the pedals.
You're thick as a brush kid.
Gas prices have fuck all to do with either event. There is actually MORE gas available due to less usage during the pandemic.
Price rises are due to market speculators and futures trading stakeholders being uncertain with world demands and consumption trends. Basically the uberrich not being happy they've not made as much money as they thought they would.
It is exclusively the fault of him, his administration and Leftist puppeteers. If it were Trump in office, gas would be $2.00 less than now. Maybe even lower.
Biden will go down in history as being the worst president ever, if the USA can survive him. Carter can sleep now. Putin and the pandemic are small bit players. Biden's Trump hating first day executive orders are the cause.
No he caused the war in Ukraine by refusing to guarantee security for Russia. He also cut off our main oil producing ally Saudi Arabia and he put much more restrictions on domestic gas companies and now they can hardly drill, which did little if anything for the environment by the way. He is 100% to blame for the inflation.
Put in has nothing to do with inflation or gas prices. Democrat govoners locking down economies to "fortify" an election and cutting domestic production of energy for "the green new deal" does. But it's not all joes fault, the entire Democrat party is to blame.
Because the dumb asses panic and believed lies media told about a virus that only killed less than 1 % but were told 99% of population would die. Then like ass wipes shut economy down, which we had more serious things than that and never shut down economy.
Gas had already double before Putin sent one tank in Ukraine. So quit spreading liberal lies to cover Biden's ass.
I bet you were scared of Covid 19 too.
From within the first couple days in office, Biden put in several climate change policies that affected the production of gas. Paris Climate Accord, Keystone pipeline, ending leases on drilling on federal land etc. Gas pretty much shot up by like 50-60 cents as soon as Biden stepped into the oval office for that reason.
Well he isn’t a very good negotiator with foreign affairs, Trump was good with making deals so maybe some things could have been avoided but not Covid or the climate change causing drought and fires , I don’t think he has much say in the decisions anyway
Former President Harry Truman had a plaque on his desk "The Buck Stops Here."
Put another way, Presidents don't get a break... whatever happens on their watch is theirs.
I'm not a Joe fan either, and as bad as he is, he's better than Trump. Only stupid people think Joe has anything to do with the price of gas or inflation. Only stupid people think it would be different if Trump was still President.
Civilization is collapsing globally and the man on watch is senile... He should be removed from office on medical grounds and an election should be called immediately.
Wasn't biden talking shit tho before he became president, acting like he was going to be the perfect president, he deserves to suffer and bit lol
Personally I would’ve prevented all that and kept gas prices down but thats just me🤷🏾♂️
Why does he deserve a break? I mean the last idiot didn’t get one. Remember, there were a lot of people calling him a murderer because of the Covid deaths, and his policies. No break for any of them!
Anti-Biden people claim he wouldn't have done it if we had strong president like Trump. I'm not sure why they think a bully=tough, (since they're usually the least tough people in the world) but they do.
Because Trump was doing the opposite and (even before covid) gas was cheap, food was cheap, jobs were easy to come by and our economy was growing.
Say what you want about Trump, but he is a buisness man. He wants poor people to be able to afford houses because he makes his living selling them.
The irony is, under trump we were energy independent and had the production power to over produce and set the global price of oil.
Oil prices dropping would really hurt putin. So he didn't test nato or the United States.
Biden canceled pipelines and drilling rights saying it was to save the planet and now we rely on importing oil. As if... Saudi Arabia or Venezuela are producing it in more environmentally friendly ways than we would. Ummm no.
Then he sanctioned Russian oil, as did most of nato saying it would "destroy the Russian economy"
But all that did was drive up global oil prices. Force us and the Europeans to buy it from Saudi Arabia and Venezuela... and China said hey, let's buy ours from Russia because they have better prices.
So Russia is making record profits. China has an energy advantage.
And the us ends up paying more for less ecologically produced oil which is helping fund the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
I know you aren't well educated and informed, but dumb it down. Trump did more oil, our economy did well and Russia didn't invade anything. Biden did less oil, Russia invaded Ukraine and our economy is suck.
Yes, absolutely, this effected the whole world. But that doesn't mean his policies are working.
It's absolutely true that this would not (and did not) happen under Trump. Covid DECREASED oil prices. And now look where we are.
@Lost_in_the_Woods gas prices went down because there was less demand. Prices increased because countries (not bv the US) that used to rely on Russia for oil were looking elsewhere due to sanctions. Russia's invasion of Ukraine had nothing to do with our ending the destruction of ecology.
We don't burn any less gas because they closed the pipeline.
Actually, we burn a lot more because we ship it in 1000 trucks instead.
But let's be real, do you think that Venezuela and Saudi Arabia are producing it more ecologically than we would here?
Do you think it's more ecological friendly to ship it here across the Atlantic Ocean than produce it nearby?
Or do you know buying the same amount of oil from foreign dictators is way worse for the planet and you just want it to be in some poor third world country where they don't have chemo because that way you don't have to see it or face the consequences?
You are right about the rest. But we could buy up the stock the EU chose not to for good rates if we didn't have sanctions.
Instead they are selling it to China, giving them the advantage making Russia richer than ever at the same time.
@Lost_in_the_Woods we have sanctions because they invaded a neighboring country unprovoked. However, our sanctions on them had no effect on the oil prices, because we never bought oil from them. The reason for an increase in prices really has to do with the sanctions that countries that bought oil from them placed on them. Also, the only reason the prices continue to rise is because Russia's invasion was completely inept.
The cognitive dissonance of the comments in here is astonishing. Truly don’t have a clue of what’s coming.
I'm in the same boat as you. I don't care for Biden as a president but too many people blame the president for issues that they don't really have control over.
We generally need to stop blaming presidents for gas prices. Gas prices all over the world are currently exploding, but yeah, totally Biden's fault, makes sense! 🙄
See, I used to think that way until I understood how geopolitics and foreign relations 100% control the price of oil.
Oil is a global market, but the US is one of the largest players, particularly because we are the number one capitalist consumer. We set the price.
The fact that bidens bad decisions hurt people in India too doesn't make it better.
See my reply to twalli for an explanation of exactly how it is bidens fault.
@Lost_in_the_Woods 100% nonsense.
I used to think what you think but then I learned more and it turns out I was wrong.
The US president has enormous influence over global oil prices.
But it's okay, you don't have to understand the complexities of how that works. Many people never do.
@Lost_in_the_Woods It's okay, you don't have to realize you're brainwashed by right-wing propaganda. Some people are just meant to be idiots.
did you know that more amerians died of covid in 2021 than 2020? that's how bad joe did at covid. we had a vaccine in 2021...
Because cancelling thousands of drilling permits and cutting production definitely didn’t have any effect
fucking exactly
same shit would’ve happened to trump
Anybody.
You Americans really think your president is responsible for the fucking gas prices all on his own? I'm from Germany and the prices here went up an insane amount too.
He can have a break when he turns the damn oil drills on. The gas prices are 150% his fault and his surrounding democrats. Putin is busy conquering a country so our shit is the last thing on his mind.
Gas prices are way up across the entire world. People need to be better educated.
Both of those statements are true. But neither one excuses our terrible leadership from the guilt of causing both of those problems.
We get like 8% of our oil from Russia, gas prices going up is just a scam.
Europe got most of their oil from Russia before the sanctions.
So now they have to buy it from Saudi Arabia and Venezuela.
Which drives the price up because they have so much more demand.
We could counter that by either producing more, or buying up the vacant supply from Russia.
Biden reduced our production and banned us from buying it from Russia.
Meanwhile, the resulting price increase means Russia can sell to China for less than we buy our oil for, giving China an energy advantage, and making Russia record profits along with the dictators in Saudi Arabia and Venezuela.
While we pay more.
Even the Whitehouse has admitted that backfired spectacularly.
Gas started going up mid December. Putin invaded Ukraine in February...
Yeah give the president a break, he fell off his bike when it was going no miles per hour.
Wasn’t Joe the one who ordered the pipelines to be dismantled?
Biden caused the rise in Gas Prices. Gas Prices were rising long before Russia invaded Ukraine.
Nope. You're narrative is laughable.
No shut up. All his poll numbers are down.
This sounds like satire to me. lol
Nope. All crisis of his own, or his own making.
Stop believing Biden’s LIES.
Nope.
