Indeed, those Red States have the highest rates of Obesity, but how is it necessarily relevant? Their rates of Obesity aren't specifically due to pride in being in such a state, but rather, to belonging to a lower class of people, as can also be observed here in California where the lower class, impoverished Hispanics, Blacks, Asians, and Whites have higher rates of obesity, relative to the higher class, educated ones who tend to better take care of themselves. Those States, unfortunately, have a very large percentage of their population belonging to an uneducated class of people.
Furthermore, I didn't claim that this Edition was strictly made to appeal to the looney Left, but implied that they were the target audience. Of course, how can there not be those on the Right who don't have some sort of prideful affinity towards themselves or others who belong to a certain, well-nourished group of people? It's inevitable that they exist. However, this doesn't mean that this Issue of Sports Illustrated was necessarily oriented towards them or had them in mind. The loudest, most voraciously vocal rabble who espouse and subscribe to this sort of degeneracy and deconstruction of socially accepted norms belong to the unhinged Left. They're the ones who're overwhelmingly responsible for Gender and Racial Identity Politics such as Critical Race Theory, Body Acceptance Movements, and Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity nonsense along with other Social Justice goals. The Right is nearly silent on or nearly always against these trivialities. Therefore, it's common sense that this is a case of hard pandering to the Left, with those on the Right being an almost non-existent afterthought.
Ok, I'm on way out, but the loudest and most vocal may indeed be looney left, but they're not alone. There are radicals about this subject on every street. As I've read your posts before, my problem is your theme, which seems to be "if it's crazy, ridiculous and non-sensical, it's ALWAYS from the looney left." I agree it is on some subjects, but the unhinged right has their own special place on craziness too.
