Seems to me, Uganda is about to find out, that it has friends it never knew it had. Or, maybe the USA might decide to bring Uganda a new form of democracy

While I genuinely hope this is good news for Ugandans I also worry that this raises their geopolitical importance to a degree that the Ugandan government is not stable enough to handle.

The word you've missed in the report is "surveys" in other words, there might be nothing at all or not as much as claimed. Nothing has been actually found or proven to make the claim. It's only a proposal at this point.

Yeah, and the miners deal with toxic chemicals, like Mercury, to extract gold from the ore. Even if they strike it rich they don't live many years to be able to enjoy it.
