What do you think about honour killings? How can they be prevented?

I think it will take a huge culture shift in certain countries of birth and a huge change to what “families” use as values.
it is fairly horrific in the UK and was fairly discussed when lived in Birmingham, especially when dating Indian girls.

It’s is crazy how people can kill a family member often their own daughter.

A friend works for or is connected to the Halo Project.
One of the biggest hurdles is down to integration and holding on to original values, some may be okay, however some are not fit for the modern world.
I really do not see the point in Honor Killings. They are not good. Instilling fear is a short term success but a very long term failure.
That is what I think. If you want a certain percentage of the population to do what they are instructed to do, then that can be done with the help of mutual respect and honor. Its a win-win situation for both the genders.
Everybody knows that women are more collected when comes the real emergency situation, overall. Running a house is not a small feat to be honest. I say, like the developed countries and the developing countries, in humanity, let the other countries also get developed. Because that is only when the economic development is possible.

In my country it was legal until 40 years ago, and nowadays is a pretty common opinion (in some rural and ancient minded areas) it should be legal again.
I think honestly it’s a barbaric mind expression, since it doesn’t respect the will and the role of the woman, it’s a mentality son of the machismo of our societies.
If you look where the woman are from they are all countries that don't have women's rights. So my guess whats happening is when the immigrate to these western countries these immigrante communities are trying to live how they did in their home countries instead of living by the morals of they country they now live in.
Kill the religious extremists, or run off to different extremists for protection
This is a Cart before the horse question.
One needs to understand the root causes before addressing the symptoms.
The root causes are something society, especially the women portion of society, doesn't want to face.

Do you think women are responsible for them?
Often in a litter of pups,
The older more developed pups will "bully" the smaller weaker ones.
What is perceived as bullying is more a survival adaptation. The real conversation going on may be,
"Hey! You are behaving weak, we need you to be stronger because your current weakness may get us all killed. So I'd rather bully you now and risk you dying as result, than allowing you to destroy this whole family."
Society is neither good or bad, it can flourish or it can rot, but the main consensus when studying families, communities and nation.. is self preservation, and it will do whatever it takes to preserve itself, whether that means killing some within the ranks that behave in ways that the larger community believes is an attack against its very survival.

So do you think it's okay to kill someone in the name of honour?
I don't think you heard me if that was your follow up question my dear.
I don't claim to have moral superiority over what is right or wrong, I'm just explaining to you why things are the way they are.
I gave up a long time ago demanding that the world work the way I want it to and I learnt to accept the way the world is. If I want to make a better, safer world, I start with myself. Do I take care of myself Well? Do I drink or smoke, do I sleep well?
Then I work on cleaning up my community, then I focus on my nation... etc.
I don't worry about what's happening in China or Indonesia because I haven't got the power to change that and there's probably more in my immediate life that I can be doing that would make me hypothetical to ignore.

Death penalty and civil forfeiture of their assets before probate court. Usually they talk about it publicly enough to get a conviction.
My question is, how many of these killings do not happen in Muslim families?
They happen in non-Muslim families as well.
I'm aware it happens in non-muslim families. But I'm also aware that the majority is muslim. And so I would love to see the data on that. Because if we truly want to prevent honor killings, we need to go to the source. If that happens to be Islam or poverty or any other common denominator, it would be great to know.
To be perfectly honest put to death the person who did the deed! They had Absolutely No Right in taking my Mother or Daughter or my Sister's life Period!
I'm surprised that France and Saudi Arabia are not coloured in.
In an overcrowded world: why would we want to prevent it?
My view here: be nice enough - and you have no reason to worry.
Germany and Sweden have problems with this? How so?
Maybe because they have immigrants.
I think honor killing is wrong. It is better to forsake your family member.
Why should I care? Women don't care if men are killed in stupid wars/
The Ones doing it should be tried, convicted and publicly executed!
They are murders. They can be prevented by people not committing murder.
once the order is given you are all not getting a choice
By outlawing Islam.
Every culture has their thing
It's a Muslim culture
