
Do you feel that people are actually assumed guilty until proven innocent in modern society?

The police don't arrest random people, there has to be a good reason they suspect you. Once arrested it's up to the criminal prosecution service to determine if there's enough evidence to hold a trial. So by the time you've got to court several legal experts have already determined your guilty. It's not cheap to prosecute so it's in their interest not to waste time on weak cases. Rapes a good example, many people get off with it because there's not enough evidence to bring to court.
There's a general view that at the end it's not guilt or innocent but guilty or got away with it

Yes, in our media driven society, that is a huge issue. I’ve been in a jury box (for traffic violations) and would recommend asking the judge to decide, which is an option.
