They claim the other way around but once they suspect, they stop treating you like you have freedom and the truth is that for the most part, you lose your freedom once the cuffs come on, from there you have no free will to walk out, at best case you are released and are forced to come back, if you refuse, then they arrest you, is that still freedom? The truth is that freedom (at least in my country) is just an illusion.

Yep, at least where I'm at they are kept until their court date and to some people those court dates are postponed and they have no money to pay bond so they stay there, aging cause they decided to open a beer right after buying it lol

The court is probably full of more serious cases which arrive to trial much sooner than the small crap so these people do time and their sentencing hasn't even started yet, some being postponed for literal years (no sarcasm)
