    I have digital subscriptions to:

    The New York Times

    The Washington Post

    The Wall Street Journal

which are 3 of the 4 "Newspapers of Record" in the USA.

    I am fine with them.

I generally do not watch TV anymore or listen to radio news.

I will hit my Google News app at some point or Google Newstand:

    https://news.google.com/topstories?nsro=true&hl=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US:en

For some specialty things, I will go to specific sites.

For instance, for in-depth sports, I have a subscription to The Athletic. Otherwise, I just go to league sites.

For Supreme Court stuff, I go to SCOTUSblog. com.

For other politics, I often go to TheHill. com or RollCall. com.

For straight factual government data, I visit USAFacts. com which is considered a major source by fact-checkers.

    ==============

Something important that I do though is to check out the trustworthiness of a source by going to MediaBiasFactCheck. com.

For instance, this is MBFC's report on USAFacts.

    https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/usa-facts/

      About "Newspapers of Record"...

      webliteracy.pressbooks.com/.../

"A literate fact-checker does not take what is said in newspapers of record as truth. But, likewise, any person who doesn’t recognize the New York Times or Sydney Morning Herald as more than your average newspaper is going to be less than efficient at evaluating information. Learn to recognize the major newspapers in countries whose news you follow to assess information more quickly."

As the character Tyrion Lannister says in Game of Thrones; 'I dont trust them, I trust their self interest'

So whenever anyone tells me anything I consider that it is in their interests for me to A know about a thing and B understand it from their perspective.

The mainstream can be trusted to be untrustworthy, they are always lying, even when they are telling the truth.

When considering (anything really but perhaps particularly) something from youtube or whatever, I consider the language being used, what the motivation is behind the creation of the content, the validity of the arguments presented and the supporting evidence etc and compare it with the other information I already believe that have from other sources which were also screened in such a way.

It works for me, I no longer have a head full of contradictory bullshit, everything I see in the world regardless of its source fits into the narrative I have adopted or developed for myself and so it appears to me to be reasonably accurate.

I definitely do not get any of my information from corporate mainstream new sources.

I have a variety of good on-line sources. Not that I flat out trust anyone. I look at citations, data, reliability of sources, and lack of bias and spin. I gather information on a topic from various sources and form an opinion that can be modified or changed as new information becomes available.

Some sources specialize in certain topics like covid, health, economy, politics, international affairs, etc.
I'm friends with a few excellent and completely honest independent journalists on Facebook. I know quite a few extremely bright and informed people on that site.

One site that does superior reporting on a lot of issues is Global Research. There are others, but Global Research does top rate, well researched, in-depth journalism.

Hannity, Laura Ingram, Ben Shapiro, WION, BBC, Sky News Australia, and some others. It depends on the host though because some hosts on a network exaggerate or intentionally lie, and others do research and are more trustworthy.

I do occasionally check out dishonest news sources to see what BS they are spreading like MSNBC, ABC News, etc.

Most networks are capable of telling you the news. The problem is they are inconsistent and shy away from certain themes or content or only report the party line.

The best you can do is pick out multiple sites with different biases to get a more rounded view, and work out for yourself what the story is.

I corroborate stories and facts with as many sources as possible. There is a difference between accredited agencies and bullshit youtubers. But facts are corroborated by people with different agendas.

You can’t corroborate a fact like “covid camps” based solely on right wing sites. Look for references on news sites you disagree with.

The military radio, they get straight to the point and are the most objective and unbiased source. Not saying they 100% trustworthy or unbiased, but to me and my experience, they are mostly.
