I listen to various YouTube feeds while driving (YouTube premium) and I use Ground News (an app) which shows articles from a given subject from many different outlets, and the outlets are graded on their political leanings. I make a point to read 3 or 4 different articles from across the spectrum to see what different groups are saying - and it's comical sometimes how different the articles might be, even for things that should be very straightforward.

You cannot live in a bubble or you can get "brain capture" like a cult member - it's important to read different viewpoints and challenge your own assumptions, which most people don't do. It's too easy to get comfortable with a narrative when that narrative is never questioned - and I always have questions because I don't trust anyone to tell me the truth reliably. Eventually, you get pretty good at figuring out what really happened by what one group says or doesn't say compared to another.

The BBC. I check a couple of places regularly for US politics, but that's more opinion (although I can't remember ever finding that they'd led me wrong, I wouldn't stick with an outlet that did that without very obviously correcting themselves).

I haven't got time or the mentality to check news sources. I think the BBC is OK to get the basic facts and it's easy to read. It's not perfect but it's at least accountable unlike most alternative news sites.

Then I look at the tabloids, I know they're biased but it never hurts to know how biased folk think.

Finally I'll look at some local news sites which usually has headlines like man finds a fish on the beach. It cheers me up to know although the rest of the world is suffering wars, crime waves, riots etc our local reporters are having to fall back on "child enjoys an ice cream" it makes me feel safe.

I have the BBC app for large world news updates. Other than that Ground News and Roca News. I still see headlines from all the big dogs just from cookies and Google/Yahoo feeds in my phone but if they're big they'll be in my X or IG feed too.

Actual complicated geopolitical events or military movements I'll go to YouTube for where there's a large variety of options.

That isn't instant like a news link but the quality is largely better if you're willing to watch longer videos and the added context and detail (generally backed with sources in the description, not always done academically but still very clear and useful).

They have worthy news, if I turn on the actual news it's just the same ol crap, shootings and murders and shit, I can count on this Instagram account to spread the important information like people canoeing in the street during a flood for example.

In the past, I spend many hours looking up information in order to verify news stories from different sources. The sources that have repeatedly been found to tell the truth and do their research, I tend to watch them the most. 8 different sources come to mind. There is far too much time needed to watch all of them and live life, so what I tend to do is rotate between the different sources that I verified in the past to be accurate.

News Sites: The Guardian, Al Jazeera, The Cradle, Al Manar, SANA, IRNA, Haaretz (Shame they got a paywall now). These are the main ones, but I use many more news sites if the need arises.

The key is to use multiple sources and know the biases of the sources that you use.  Groundnews seems like a good resource as it aggregates news.
