At the same time we require monetary fees from Ukrainian refugees for the gracious hospitality we give them. People threatened to report for violation of human rights.

Because it's grotesquely immoral to punish people based on where their ancestors came from. And while this may not matter in other countries, it's also damned anti-American. Free expression, due process, meritocracy. It's not a hard trinity to grasp.
