Not just because of the war, I mean in general. I got some flak because of my stance of that both Putin and Zelensky are not my people's friends and a political ally of mine suggested on Facebook that both Russians and Ukrainians should not be interacted with and avoided.

I disagree with him because peoples are not the same with their government, and as an example one of my closest associate is a Russian woman - although she's been in my country for some 20 years so she's not so Russian anymore.

Not really, no. I heard most Russians didn't even want this war. Their economy was finally starting to get pretty decent from all that European gas money until this happened. Now, many Russians are becoming the new Mexicans.

I feel sorry for the Russian civilians caught up with this pointless BS. All cause Putin is a scared pussy afraid of Ukraine joining NATO. Which will probably now happen anyway, once they lose this war, along with Sweden and Finland now, too.

It was a VERY stupid gamble that will cripple Russia, even IF Putin somehow wins. And Putin is running out of new recruits to fight in this dumb war, so it's unlikely Russia will win.

But no, I don't hold anything against the Russian people. I had a Russian model friend in college (not as pretty as this woman here, but still 5'10" with hair down to her butt; a single mother though.)

I have dated a Ukrainian woman. She escaped the Ukraine as soon as the USSR failed. She's been in the US for about 30 years, still has her cute eastern European accent, but is otherwise very much like American women.

She has no accent though, you'd know she's Russian only if you hear her full name or her speaking Russian.

I have never known a Russian person v. well. I met some when I was in college (it was in the U. S. one was a professor another was a grad student) but we didn't really socialize. They seemed like smart normal friendly people from what little I did interact w them. When I was a server (waitress), another server was a Ukrainian girl. She was v. sweet (she was also hot by the way). I do not know, but I would assume or guess that people are people and there are nice Russians, mean Russians, nice Ukrainians and mean Ukrainians, and every other nationality. I will also mention that meeting somebody from another country, in your country or on vacation, may not represent the average person in their home country because most people do not spend a lot of time outside of their home country so those who do may not be typical. JMO!

I don't know if it's the same on American IDs, but since the friend in question was born literally weeks before the fall of the USSR, her IDs put her country of origin as USSR, even if it doesn't exists anymore.

My friend did not face a lot, but maybe it could be because unless you knew her full name or heard her speaking Russian, you couldn't tell she's Russian.
She's got the looks, but many people are still surprised.

Not surprising, some have it easier. His accent is still heavy but at least his English is a lot better than it was.

I've heard that's because they have the culture of never smiling unless they really mean it and with someone they consider a true friend.
Similar for crying - my friend has to smile because it's part of her job, but she bottles up with everyone except a few people.

My friend cried in front of me only once, both out of stress and anger. It was before we had to go into an event - she broke down in the car - and I was surprised how she recomposed herself afterwards. I had offered to drive home, she declined.

I DO, and it's not even about the wore. I have Polish background myself, and I was always fascinated with Russian culture and wanted to visit, and I never had a problem with Russian people until I went to Turkey and was surrounded by Russian tourists. They are so hateful, arrogant and self-centered. There was one girl in our all Russian tour group who seemed really nice, so we invited her to come hang out with US and OUR guide, but she preferred to be with her fellow Russians. Turned out she was fluent not only in Russian, but also in Turkish and she didn't even bother to offer to help translate to the guide and driver, when we were clearly having trouble communicating.

Then at dinner they were so rude. Some lady shoved my mom and threw a pillow on the floor, and another one mumbled under his breath that I'm a "baby"", because I was sick that day and wouldn't eat the food.

Then on another tour there was a Russian "boxer" guy and his girlfriend, they were speaking English the whole time, and he was googling random facts for her so she could play tour guide, and she was bossing the guide around telling him to postpone the lunch stop because she ate a huge breakfast at the first stop and wasn't hungry. When my mom called her out on it, her boyfriend told her to "relax", even though they had been fighting themselves. Then on the way back she took her shoes off and put her smelly feet next to my mom and the whole route they were talking shit about the U. S. and American people.

We occasionally run into Russian people where we live and we've never met one nice Russian person.

Maybe at home they are friendly to tourists, but that is certainly not the case outside of Russia. The only friendly Russian I met was a Volga Tatar girl. So yeah, fuck Russians!

And just for the record, Ukrainians aren't much better, but I've had more pleasant interactions with Ukrainians then I have with Russians.

Yes, I do not like Russians or anything they stand for, as a country. You and your freinds I will assume are 25 years old, you were born in1998? You have no idea what kind of world I was raised in with the Soviets, and constant threat of nuclear holocaust. So what Putin is trying to do today, is reconstruct the Soviet Union, and if they continue, they must die. Its literally what Hillter did with Nazi Germany following WWI, and after WW2 the United States promised, never again. Never again would we let this happen and sit on the side lines and do nothing.

Your freinds do not understand that or comprehend the danger of it. There were 2 major World Wars in Europe in the 1900's that tore the world apart. But for 25 years old today, the threat of war in Europe seems so far away and impossible, but honestly it is happening right now. And Russia is the antagonist... does not matter who's right or wrong at this point... it's a us against them mentality for them and it should be for us... so tell your freinds to wise up and read a history book.

Someday your freinds or their children, or children's children will have to stand up for want values they believe in and bleed on the field or die like the Ukrainians are. Just prey when that day comes, we still have enough red-blooded Americans left willing to pick up a weapon and toe the line... or all this, including all their tender-hearted concerns for humanity will fall to ash.

I have no issues with any peoples of the world, but I do have issues with many governments. I would be careful interacting with people online from russia, china, and other similar countries because of how often they use fake personas in order to influence their and other societies. It is not uncommon to see people who you may have though were just a normal Russian person turn out to be a fake profile made to spread propaganda. Again this isn't just an issue with russia but with many countries, likely the USA does this as well, but I have not seen it.

No, I have no reason personally... directly to have issues with the people. Years ago as part of an outreach, I sent package and gifts to Russian "pen pals", as a good will gesture... when they were going through their currency collapse.

I suspect most are just like us.

That said, I can't say I know Russians and I have less knowledge of their history than most other countries/groups. I've met more Ukranians and liked them for who they were. There's lots of Russians around, but don't know them.
