+1 yI guess just my belief that pretty much all of human society as we know it, with the very rare exception of indigenous tribes here and there, is a mistake. We aren’t supposed to be doing any of this, we weren’t meant to have an Industrial Revolution or modern medicine or large scale organized countries and governments. We’re meant to live in the wild as the animals we are, and probably die in our middle age, if we’re lucky.
How I developed it? Critical thought and observation, and just the conclusion that not a single place on earth seems to be “doing it right.” I’m a firm believer that social problems are nothing more than the manifestation of the futility at any and all attempts at cooperative human society. And it may technically benefit us, extend our lifespans, give us physical and emotional comfort and security…. but who said we’re entitled to any of that? Look at literally every other creature on the planet, none of them have these special rules. And I don’t buy it that just because something CAN be accomplished means that it SHOULD be accomplished. A sentient being is a sentient being, the life value of a human is the same as a bird or a reptile or an insect or another mammal…. has it occurred to anyone that ones providing us with all these facts to justify our actions are humans themselves? Like if a raccoon stepped up and was like “yeah, we did some research too, and it seems you guys are special, so carry on”, I’d buy that. But the word of any human is worthless to me in terms of the validity of any of this. I like driving cars places instead of walking, sitting in AC instead of sweating, recovering from illness or injury instead of dying…. but again, just because I like it doesn’t mean shit. Who fucking cares what any of us “want?” Zebras don’t “want” to get eaten by lions, but that’s just the lot they drew in life, I don’t know what to tell you. And we’re supposed to be eaten by lions and bears and wolves and sharks and alligators, we’re lower on the food chain when we don’t cheat the system with weaponry.
I’ll forever be one-of-one with this opinion, lmao, I don’t think anyone has the guts to go feral and right the ship. We will ALWAYS do the required mental gymnastics to validate ourselves, call it “evolution”, act as if humans are the premier species and that earth exists solely for us and everything in it is to sustain us or sustain that which gives us sustenance, but that’s horseshit. We’re kind of just fucked, humans are too self-centered to sacrifice anything about ourselves in the name of the naturally right thing, and it’d require 100% compliance. We’re fucked. I just hope we don’t make it off this planet to fuck up anywhere else in the solar system, we’re the worst pest species this planet has ever seen. We need a New Ice Age or for one of those asteroids to finally hit us and wipe us out, that’s the only possible solution.

+1 yThat one can both be against NATO expansion/militarism AND think the "West" should supply arms to Ukraine to fight against Russian aggression.
Like seriously, the sanctions are fucking up the economy of Europe and the US and more arms in NATO are going to make the Russian people more paranoid and more inclined to think Putin's war is about "defending the motherland". If the US and Europe decrease their defense spending they'll have more money available to help the average citizen.
*How can you talk about downsizing the military when Russia's on the warpath?
Because they can't even conquer Ukraine and if they tried this shit with Poland with a much more modernized and organized military than Ukraine, right now Duda would be in Minsk dictating peace terms. Russia was never a threat that could justify NATO's military budget and all weapons close to their border are only going to get more average citizens behind Putin's imperialist/recidivist ambitions.

+1 yI've many. One of them is it's good to have high divorce rates. It means if your marriage goes to south, you have a way out. A lot of people just don't get it. They'd rather cheat on their partners, make their kids unhappy than consider divorce. Because oof taboo.

Why go to the religious route of marriage, when you can get a civil union with a prenup agreement that you can change like a hat? Or why not be a lot more careful and selective in who you get into or stay in long term relationships to begin with? If you don’t want a marriage don’t get one. I’ll never understand the point of going into a marriage expecting divorce; just don’t get married if you aren’t 100% certain.

@Sixgunsound of course. But in Asian countries, it's a compulsory deal. You'd probably understand it if you were Asian yourself. It's hard.
- +1 y
Do you mean arranged marriages or something else? What is the point of arranging marriages and still allowing divorce?
- +1 y
@Sixgunsound marriages are more like alliances between families. You may not be even compatible with the said individual. Most girls here don't have the freedom to say no. Divorce is the only way out.
- +1 y
@Sixgunsound and yes, arranged marriages are still all the hype
- +1 y
But why go to all the trouble if divorce is a possibility? It doesn’t make sense from a return on investment perspective. Like why would the families spend all that money and time and effort negotiating the deal if the young people involved can just throw it all away?
- +1 y
@Sixgunsound you should give a speech to them on why they shouldn't. :D
- +1 y
@Sixgunsound you'd be surprised how many times Asians don't give a fuck about anything but their traditions
- +1 y
Has nobody ever questioned this system before? I understand there is more respect for tradition and unquestioning obedience to family elders in many Asian countries, but it just seems like a losing financial bet to create a system where a lot of money and time are tied up in two people who might not know each other or get along and who could waste all of that effort and all those resources. It’s not a bet I would make as today’s young people largely do not not seem to understand or take commitment seriously if something they think is better in the immediate short term comes along. Obviously it has worked or no civilization would have historically or still be practicing it, but as an outsider looking in It makes no sense.

@Sixgunsound "it's not worth the fight" most kids would say. And the brainwashing done by ancestors is so powerful you really start to think you should either be married or depressed — you owe it to people.
2.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. 1. I believe in abortion under any circumstances. Thankfully my parents taught me to think for myself. My parents are Christian’s and they are also pro choice.
That’s the only opinion I have that will always ruffle some feathers.13 Reply- +1 y

+1 yWe can't take in more refugees in out territory than the quota we established. It's not racism, it's not "patriotism", we simply don't have the resources.
This summer alone we've had two floodings and a forest fire that ate a hill and displaced eleven families. We've got next to no resources to spare, and instead of sending reliefs, the prefecture heckles us to raise our refugee quota. I'm from a leftwing party, and yet got called a xenophobe and a fascist for this.
I have people living in tents right now. My deputy keeps asking for prefab houses for the displaced, got told we can get them only for the refugees. I'm pissed off to no end.
Don't think that I blame the refugees - the fault of this mess is the corrupt, obtuse, inefficient system we live in.

+1 yI believe that if we are uninterested in allowing self examination in how we interact with others then we can are incapable of playing innocent. I’m personally tired of adults who act like the Victim when people get upset with them about their behavior.
If you didn’t try to indulge the individual in a conversation about it then you’re full of pride and narcissistic behavior and the consequences of those actions are justified. I’m fed up with that “I don’t understand!! I didn’t do anything!!” rhetoric because it’s stupid scapegoat for their massive fucking egos00 Reply- 1.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yI believe in absolute, unrestricted freedom of speech full stop. Sticks and stones can break my bones but words demonstrate who is and is not an idiot that I don’t need to waste any more time on. A lot can be learned from people that are on the other side of the modern warring distraction factions that western society is divided into, and people will sort themselves into or out of your life on their own unassisted if you let them. I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will fight for your right to say it. Trump demonstrated this principle in action when instead of legislatively destroying his media enemies he stated that the nonstop media attacks were “just something we’re going to have to learn to live with”. That would be unlikely to happen from a less fair-minded leader.

People focus too much on others' actions, it's fine to be offended, live with it.
What pronouns should I use for someone? Bitch/Fuckoff
What sexual orientation are you? Don't give a fuck.
Manspreading? Fuck off, my balls need space, take the next train.
I can keep going, but what it comes down to is that people have way too many expectations on how others should treat you because of [insert reason]. If I like you, I'll treat you well. If I don't know you, I don't care.00 Reply- 1.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yDemocrats and Republicans both make legal immigration for Hispanics incredibly difficult and full of bullshit while not doing enough to stop illegal immigration, so that they can usher them into Sanctuary cities to harvest them for votes, or fill their bloated detention centers for government funding respectively. They trreat Mexicans like fucking cattle and I hate it.

You make an excellent point. Immigration isn’t broken it’s functioning as designed.
