They do, a man used it after punching someone on the Jeremy Kyle show
https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/judge-jeremy-kyle-show-itv-23405259
The judge concluded he had endured hours of baiting by staff before cracking and lashing out. Unfortunately he was still found guilty.
The problem is always going to be where do you draw the line and how do you prove you were pushed over it.
It is a little tricky because if it doesn't work as a defense under any conditions then someone will inevitably find a way to push someone to the edge on purpose just to get them put in jail. Whole think tanks and professions will be dedicated to pushing political enemies to the edge.
It should thus remain a case by case thing, though sadly the "case" is usually decided by who has the better lawyer rather than who actually has the moral high ground. And as men tend to be the breadwinner they tend to have the better lawyers...
I’m not sure I understand what you’re asking; if what you’re asking is should defenses be granted by gender, I don’t believe they should be. As so few people are held accountable for their actions to begin with, that giving them another out is unlikely to positively affect meaningful change.
No, people are hardly ever held accountable for their mistakes as it is. That would just make it worse.
If you were "pushed to the edge" then you have some issues with not knowing when to back down, take a breath or regulate your feelings. (Something many of us weren't taught thanks to our parents opting for things such as the "cry it out method")
Are you equally comfortable with removing such exceptional defenses from women?
@Chazmatazz269 like what exactly?
There are at least seven legal defenses exclusive to women. The OP mentions the “battered woman” defense. PPD, is common too. But if we’re sposta manage our own emotions, it shouldn’t matter boys or girls, right?
@Chazmatazz269 can you name all of them and circumstances they have been used?
The two you have given so far is 1. A self defense plea which isn't strictly for women. And 2. A mentally unwell plea which again isn't strictly for women.
You are grossly mistaken. Men aren’t permitted to use the battered woman’s defense, or the postpartum depression defense. So, now that we all know you’re a liar, feel free to go fuck yourself. Ell oh ell!
@Chazmatazz269 go on name the others. I don't think I have to tell you how stupid you look right now.
I look dumb? Ell oh ell! Tell yourself whatever, fool. Anyone reading this thread knows you’re either a liar or an idiot.
@Chazmatazz269 no, anyone reading this thread who is at all knowledgeable about law and how a court operates will think you're an absolute moron. You can't even provide me with the so called at least 7 defenses.

There are at least seven legal defenses that only women are permitted to use. Either they need to abolish those defenses for women, or men should be able to use them as well. No exceptions. The current state is unconstitutional by any reasonable standard.
I’m not quite sure what you’re talking about here are we talking about you’re getting so mad that you end up hitting a woman while in that case take a walk or a drive the only reason to really hit women is if they’re coming at you in a physical violent manner in which they wish to do you bodily harm.
of course the Democrats should defend all people hitting because they can’t even define but a woman is
I thought that's what temporary insanity is supposed to be. You have some chick gaslighting you, belittling you, treating you like shit for years on end, so you finally snap one day and introduce her to a frying pan because she started complaining about how you don't dust the way she likes shit dusted at your mother's house..
In the US a women can be arrested for domestic violence as well. The self defense laws go both ways in the US (although most American don't seem to know that but this is due to cultural conditioning. )
As far as "pushed to the edge " in a domestic sense yes. It it the same thing as domestic violence. A man or a women can say they were the victims of domestic violence and thus pusused to the edge. In the US it could hold up in court.
Hell no. People should have self-control over their actions. Responsible adults don't need to put their hands on each other in order to have a discussion. Also domestic abuse isn't just a case for women to make.
The actual pressures on men are toxic *femininity* and a Leftist anti-male agenda in general, because self-reliant men are obstacles to the Left's totalitarian state impulses, but I would not expect you to understand that.
I understand your left wing impulses to push bullshit.
I believe that's called "insanity" isn't it? Pushed to the mental breaking point? Lost control of your actions / weren't in your right mind during the act? Etc? Yeah I think that's already an option, although NOT a very good one.
Won't work as there is no legal framework for it.
Men can instead go for the domestic abuse defence or even the new "Johnny Depp defence" if needs be.
Nope.
As a fully functioning adult - you can leave if the argument is going nowhere.
A person should be responsible for his/her action/s.
If I haul off and hurt you I already know I was gonna do it before I did it. I made a choice to black out & I Made a choice attack. Their was no pushing me go the edge I am in full control of my anger.
How about learning to be an adult instead of dealing with all your problems in a violent way? Stop watching action movies and stop trying to be violent in every situation.
They do, its called temporary insanity... not a good defense to go with usually
walking away, before you make it to the edge... that's sometimes an option
I'm not sure I understand the rationale for the defense. Presumably the rationale for the domestic violence defense is self-defense which is pretty reasonable. If a guy goes off due to self-defense that would seem reasonable as well.
I think everyone should get benefit of the doubt, including men
No that's absurd. We are 100% responsible for our own actions.
UK has a 'diminished responsibility' defense to attempt to show that murder should really be manslaughter due to circumstances.
Technically everyone has, it's just that the edge is initiation of violence.
toxically masculine rght here... and you love it
Sounds like a human defense so sure apply it to men they're human we're human
I'm not sure, but probably not.
anger issues isn't a valid defense
Hell yes!
No one should
can't wait
