+1 ySome tattoos are illegal in almost every country, however some countries do have a total ban on tattoos. Japan is a great example, where oftentimes you can't get a job if you have a tattoo.
Should they be? It depends on the culture of the nation. For cultures based on the Celtic/Anglo culture, such as the English speaking world, I can say that they should be allowed. Tattoos have a deep spiritual meaning in our culture that goes all the way back to the Picts. Traditionally, they were used to leave marks about important life events, achievements, dedication to their faith or important people in their lives.
Of course, people who are out of touch with the original usage and get trashy things should just know better. Their ancestors would be rolling in their graves.

But I don't care of the stupid fucks can't find employment and wind up miserable. And if they resort to crime to survive, I say show no mercy. "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes."00 Reply

+1 yLol i can't tell where you're from, Mr. Anonymous, but here in the free world piercing and tattoo and branding etc. Isn't just "made illegal" lol. People here are free to do pretty much what we want and that's how we prefer it. In some muslim sandbox countries everything is illegal and women caught on the street without being completely covered in clothes (in 110 degree desert county) are punished under the law by being whipped (and I'm not even kidding)

Some people go to an extreme, but tattoos are a person's expression of themselves. I have a stupid one on my right forearm, but the other 4 I have I don't regret. What do u do to show who u r as a person? Paint ur hair blue or green? lol

+1 yI don’t care for them, but I wouldn’t ban them. I was considering getting a tattoo when I was an elementary education major. I figured I’d get a tattoo on my hip so, if I was ever accused of inappropriate conduct, I’d have a defense when my accuser couldn’t describe it.

00 Reply26.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. In the state where I live they were illegal until a few years ago. I can remember people going to the next state to get inked. I think it is a means of self expression and should be covered under the first amendment.

00 ReplyNope, companies are now opening up more to tattoos because it's considered inclusion. United Airlines is one good example where they opened up to tattos along with nail polish and makeup.
00 ReplyNo, but I do think we've lowered our standards as to what is acceptable and definetly should return to shaming individuals for their lack of propriety.
00 ReplyTattoos don't infringe upon anybody else's rights, freedom, or liberty. People may or may not like them. But they most certainly should NOT be illegal.

@Daniela1982 Let me re frase what I said. Those that get tattoos are telling the rest of us what type of person they are. Especially those who decide to tattoo their face! None of it was directed towards the person asking this question.

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yNo. Why should they be? Having a tattoo doesn’t decrease someone’s value as a person, nor does it have anything to do with someone being uneducated.
