I’m a big fan and listen to him almost everyday. I appreciate how he sticks to logic and facts in his debates. He will also own up to being wrong if he is factual proven to be. He doesn’t hide the ball.
Ben Shapiro is the kind of guy who's whole life story you know from just a glance.
- Was short, weak, and quiet in grade school.
- Got beat up and bullied all the time.
- Was smarter than all his peers, but only because all his peers were extremely dumb/low IQ.
- Studied hard in school and got high grades out of resentment.
- Grew hostility to those around them by middle school/early high school.
- Learned to become sarcastic, quick-witting, and intellectual scold those around him in order to make himself feel worthy.
- Joined a debate club in school and "won" against less intelligent peers by repeating the same "throw empty facts at them" tactic over and over again.
- Built his entire career off of militant-arguing (and probably debated his wife into dating him).
- Whines about fake anti-Semitism too much, like many Jews do.You can tell all of that just by looking at him.

Those smug beady eyes scream "I've been angry and insecure my entire life" (not to judge) I think Ben Shapiro is a pseudo-intellectual who prides himself on his slightly-above-average intelligence and models his whole identity on being an "intellectual giant" out of insecurity, when in reality, he's just bitter and lacks the situational intelligence to realize just throwing a bunch of empty numbers and stats you looked up on the internet isn't a way to actually win a debate or change people's minds, and that most people don't operate on empty logic and statistics, and "intellectually pwning" (with a P) those around you doesn't make you look superior; it just makes you look like an insecure know-it-all who's not actually very intelligent or knows much, but only goes after those dumber than him to give off an air of smug intellectual superiority anyway.
I don't even necessarily dislike Ben Shapiro (I'm neutral; couldn't care less about him) or disagree with his viewpoints. I'm just stating the obvious here.
Ben Shapiro the conservative personification of a TED Talk. I'm not even trying to be that vicious, here.
His sister, though...

Asker+1 yBahahaha. ^^^^ That was hilarious.
I’ve been listening to him for a long while. He actually talks about some of things that motivated to him to where he got today. He also talks openly about how he was bullied in school but how he persevered. He graduated from college at 20 at the top of his class and again graduated at 22 at the top of his class.
But do think bullying impacts peoples future political choices?- +1 y
Yeah, I never even listened to any of his podcasts or know his actual childhood.
I think bullying affects one's confidence. And confidence, often times, is the key between success and failure. Which is why tall and good-looking people, especially those in high school, tend to be more successful than not: the confidence they cultivate while growing up, which forms their adult identity. Of course, it has to be a motivator, not just the prime trait itself. Because once those things that made one confident go away, they're in for a hard fall.
So I like to think of it like money: Money can make life easier, but if you're a genuine f*ck-up, no amount of money in the world can help you and you'll waste it all anyway. Confidence is the same way. Similar to how being poor motivates one to become successful, being bullied and having insecurity can sometimes do the same thing.
Asker+1 yI do suggest you give him a full week of listening to his podcasts. I have listened to other conservative pundits and sometimes they go off on tangents and/or let emotion cloud their judgment. Ben is good at keeping his arguments logical and rationale. He thinks ahead to the opposing parties counter argument and already has response ready. The only time I’ve seen him lose it was over issues with anti-semiticism (which comes as no surprise).
Honestly I have a deep grudge dealing with a very real cancel culture incident at my old job back in 2015. I didn’t understand what was happening at the time (I thought it was an outlier) but in retrospect it infuriates me. This Marxism is very real and very horrifying.
If I belonged to any other group of people it would of been grounds for anti-discrimination lawsuit. I look for advice to identify and handle that bs.

+1 yYou’ll have to produce evidence that he has ever admitted to being wrong. I’ve watched a lot of Shapiro, and he appears completely convinced of his own superiority over all others. I’ve never heard him correct himself or apologize. That’s a major detractor in my book. Another detractor is his tendency to deflect when faced with a point or topic for which he’s unprepared, but then call out his opponents for non sequiturs or straw man arguments when they do the same. He’s sometimes too easy to escalate. I more respect people who don’t get emotional during debates and arguments; sometimes he gets riled up. Ell oh ell! Otherwise, he seems committed to quality information and a no nonsense approach to delivery; which are all too rare these days and extremely important to me.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yHe’s cool, I like a lot of the points that he makes even though I don’t necessarily always agree to them. Although, a lot of the time I notice that he likes to answer questions with another question (and changes the topic completely) as to avoid directly answering the question.

Asker+1 yYeah I see what you are saying. But again he gets asked a lot of loaded questions where people intend to trap him. Context does matter.
Asker+1 yFor example this interviewer tried to ask Ben “are minorities victims of systemic racism or are they just prone to criminality”. Ben says “neither” and he tries to explain that community is a major factor. He did trip
up a bit here but you can see he’s asked a very difficult question that was conveniently oversimplified by the interviewer. Many leftists looked at this as a “oh gotcha” moment because they don’t think there is any other answer besides 1) systemic racism or 2) racists believe that minorities are more prone to crime. The more complicated but yet more accurate answer is it’s because of a myriad of problems including community issues that are not do to “systemic racism”.
Did he do a great job here? Not his best show. But he didn’t bungle it up because the question wasn’t fair to begin with. So this why he often asks questions.

I don't listen to any pundits on the left. Don't know any credible ones. I listen to general podcasts. WSJ What's News, WSJ Potomac Watch, The Dispatch, NPR Consider This, Tangle, Reason Roundtable, Left Right & Center

+1 yI used to listen to Ben Shapiro everyday at one point.
Typical bias political man that can't escape his own political bias and perspective.
He always seem to find the negatives with Democrats even if it's true but never Republicans.
Republicans and Donald Trump hardly or can't do no wrong.
I don't like listening to such bias like that. Just not a fan of such approach.

Asker+1 yWell I got to laugh at that. But most people don’t listen to him for his music critiques.
- +1 y
His out of touchness extends into other subjects, but the music thing popped into my head as an example. It’s like the people who say “oh, that isn’t art” and try to gatekeep something that is just totally subjective
4.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. He says some right things but ultimately he gets on his knees for the oligarchy just like all the other stooges who are part of the controlled opposition.
Just look at how he defends the disgusting tax evasion corporations and so on engage in. He wants to lower taxes for the wealthy and argues for Reaganomics and the trickle down theory which is absolutely bullshit.00 Reply- 3.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.

00 Reply He's just another moral midget and Jewish supremacist. I'm not interested in whatever he has to say. Conservatives are also weak, probably not weak as their woke rivaks, but still so.

Asker+1 yYes and meanwhile the “party of science” can’t answer the simple question “What is a woman?”….
Opinion Owner+1 yReminds me of when he kept antagonizing a trans woman, calling him "sir" intentionally poking at him to get a reaction, and then when he got a reaction he got scared- he's a bitch for that. I don't hate the guy, and I do agree with him on a lot, but when he does things like this it's hard to take him serious.
Asker+1 yHe can get overly defensive at times. But he’s used to getting lots of antagonism including threats against his life.
The thing is many conservatives have played “nicey nice” for a long time (Mitt Romney types). We don’t want to come off as bullies, bigots, etc. But radical leftists took kindness as weakness and kept pushing the envelop. Just push if there is mush. Finally some radical “up yours” conservatives came along (Trump). It was initially refreshing but of course these people go way to far too.
Just remember newtons law is going to happen when you confront people. If you push hard in one direction they are eventually going to break and push back.
Personally I hate all of it. I am old to remember a time when things weren’t like this at all. But my livelihood was threatened a few years ago. I was outed as conservative at my old job and my coworkers were trying to get me fired. THAT bs is what makes me like people like Ben Shapiro. He’s calling it out. And cancel culture is very real.

+1 yI think he’s limited

Asker+1 yHow so?

When I first saw some of his videos he came across as smart and like he was right mostly on the issues discussed. I’ve seen him debate and crush kids in college.
However I’ve also seen him debate adults and he doesn’t crush them. In fact he seems to fumble a bit and has shown a lack of understanding and compassion.
So rn I believe he’s limited in that on issues he’s researched he seems articulate but in other areas he’s not able to think on his feet
Asker+1 yDo you have any examples? I don’t believe he is right 100% of the time by the way. But he’s definitely smarter than probably 99.99% on GAG when it comes political and social subjects.
Asker+1 yWhat did he say wrong in video 1? She tried it lay a trap for him to try to get him to say “blacks and Latinos are more violent and criminally inclined”. Of course he isn’t dumb enough to say some like that nor does he believe those groups of people have that problem “at a DNA” level. Instead he said there is a cultural issue.
- +1 y
Understand you want to defend him but I provided some examples you asked for and answered your question
- +1 y
One question. What part of Latino culture do you see that causes them to be over represented in prisons?
