It doesn't matter. Companies can’t afford to be that cheap. People aren’t accepting it right now. And it’s forcing companies to hire and scramble. It’s stressing the fuck out of the employees that are still employed. Owners and shareholders are the ones who need to be “woke”. It’s not about more at this point, it’s about losing less. Subtracting a negative is a positive. Pay your employees so they’re happy or go out of business because they went to work for someone who would, their choice.

You're not supposed to be able to live on minimum wage, it's just supposed to give you money in your pocket until you can find something better! If you want $15.00 an hour, stick with your $7.50 an hour job until you can FIND ONE that pays $15.
It is 7.25 now but a lot of places are paying much higher now. Working for some fast food places you can start at 14 to 15 dollars an hour. I think if you are working for minimum wage then you are doing something wrong.
The current minimum wage is ridiculous. No one should work 40 hours a week and still be at or below poverty level.

Why pay someone a livable wage if they're willing to do it for so much less?
There has always been a ruling class and a working class in society. That has never changed. And "job creators" only allegiance is too their share holders. If people want employers to pay more they have to force their hand.
This is the only thing I love about the pandemic. You have so many businesses whining about how they can't find help (it's been called the great migration. People leaving their job of years for something better). And many employers have been FORCED to open their coffers or close their doors. How many tears do you shed for big business? NONE. This is a time when the little gets to tell the job creators "it's not personal it's just business" 🤣
I will never understood the argument. I have never paid my folks minimum wage. It doesn't matter who I have employed. Even when it came to manual labor, I always paid extra because I wanted better workers, guys who worked longer, harder, and were more flexible.
Because I have customers who can be demanding.
I think we should get rid of a minimum wage in every negotiate their own wage with her employer if you’re a 16 year old work at McDonald’s so probably get paid five bucks if you’re an 18-year-old working at McDonald’s you’re probably will get paid 10.
Meanwhile stick and ball players get paid 40 million per year now.
I refuse to take part in this farce any longer. I'm worth $1000 per day if I could find someone willing to hire me for the skills I really have. I shouldn't be working for $10 or even $20 per hour or whatever. That's a joke and a rip-off.
The thing is nobody should be staying at an entry level job for years where they are trying to make a living off of that.. Entry level jobs are for people with little skills and experience.. They were primarily for teenagers to get their foot into the workforce and get pay a little compensation.. But now people are trying to equate them with skilled labor, compensate people who for one reason or another don't try to gain more skills..
If the minimum wage can't afford basic things like rent, food and utility bills, then it's slavery by another name.
"Is cheap labor necessary to have affordable goods?"
No. Less corporate profit does, though.
The goal of a minimum wage job is not to make you rich but to give you a headstart. you're not supposed to rely on it. You can find an actual job unless you've majored in a useless degree like literature, liberal arts and lesbian underwater basketweaving dance theory.
I fully support the minimum law but the pay of low skill workers should definitely keep up with cost of living.
If you work full time regardless of age and put in work then you should get paid what's just for your labor.
Exploiting people's through cheap labor is extremely evil. It's great
No, quality is better
I think so I mean hell I'm earning the equivalent of about $3 an hour and work twice as long as most people, I'm debt-free and happy as could beCheap labor isn't cheap in the long run because governments, charities and private individuals have to supplement it.
For service jobs hell no. But other get paid WAY to much. I fotfet the exact numbers but the CEO of Dollar general makes around 925% then a store manager let alone cashier. Doesn't make sense.
In many places it has gotten better. I think though it should be enough to accommodate the expenses of the state you live in. Often it doesn’t though.
Look at you pretending anyone gives a shit about our political opinions
The only problem I have with minimum wage, is that people who make higher wages tend to lose their purchasing power of the money they make
Cheap labour, yes. But you can import cheap goods from China as long as you're not worried about the trade deficit.
I think minimum wage should be done away with. All it does is drive up the cost of goods.
I think raise it to $25 an hour or $30 until inflation is under control
I’m on the Keynsian economics side. Increase the middle class. Fast.
Why is there a map of America? I don't live in America so why should I care about their wages?
Looking at that map, the more successful states have a higher minimum wage. The republican Bible belt states are way behind.
