You feel like you got something you felt you didn't deserve?

So I got a high disability rating from the military even though I got out of basic training from an injury. I talk to older veterans that said they've been to war and don't have disability at all. I feel really blessed to have it but sometimes I feel I don't deserve it compared to those that served years/fought in a war.

I can understand where you’re coming from as I got a pretty high rating myself. But that isn’t your fault as to how it all turned out. I’ve known a lot of people who were in the same situation as far as getting low ratings the first time but didn’t want to continue pushing it to get a hire rating. If you feel bad about it maybe try helping out other vets in a way like donating part of the money. Doesn’t have to be a lot. I currently work at the VA. Regardless you like thousands and thousands of us raised your right hand to defend this country. It was just unfortunate that your military career didn’t turn out the way you wanted it to. I think it’s fine.

I’m sorry that happened but yeah I have a few stories like that but I don’t dwell it for too long personally.

I think you're a great example of the military moving forward and attempting to take better care others.

We had a DV come talk to us and basically talk about how fucked up the system is. Shipping people out to basic training, fucking up their bodies, and just saying "Cya. The AF doesn't need you anymore"

& Having them deal with their injuries on their own.

So don't feel bad. We're constantly moving forward, learning, and trying to right our wrongs.
