Is anyone else proud of Kansas for voting for abortion rights?

First of all, religion had nothing to do with this amendment. Nowhere was God, the Bible, a church, or any other religious body or figure even remotely alluded to. That aside though, laws regarding abortion very much do not dictate what happens in one's bedroom.

Second, while disappointing, it's also not surprising that this amendment did not pass. It's actually quite astonishing how vague the language was. Many other comments I've seen elsewhere have also said that it was "confusing".

It also didn't help that it was poorly advertised and poorly defended.

I suspect and sincerely hope that this matter will be revisited in the future.

Kansas has not voted to keep religion and the government out of the bedroom. They've voted to allow abortion by asking the people. This should be the case in every state, let democracy settle it which ever way it goes.

I live here, and yes I'm proud of Kansans for voting down the proposed amendment (which would have taken a woman's right to an abortion out of the state's constitution). The state's existing abortion laws aren't that liberal though. There are already several restrictions in place, and that isn't going to change - not any time soon anyway.

@WhiteBoyChill Kansas is a very isolated farming state, the most conservative state in the country is likely Texas now that Utah has become more purple.
