Recently voters in Kansas voted against changing the state constitution to allow legislators to pass anti-abortion restrictions. A Democratic legislator in Indiana suggested doing the same there, where the GOP-dominated legislature was proposing a complete ban on the procedure. His proposal was rejected; he was told that the purpose of representational democracy was for the legislature to reflect the will of the people by who they vote for, so there was no need for a popular vote.
What a bunch of arrogant little assholes. So they were voted to their positions because of their stand on numerous issues, and now they use that to claim that on a particular issue this allows them to bypass the REAL public desires and implement their ignorant edicts, and this somehow reflects the will of the people.
As the Kansas vote showed, a public vote would probably soundly defeat their fascist restrictions, and they clearly are afraid of just that.
