Pretty people are kind of throwing “banana republic” around incorrectly lately…not to be “that guy”🧐😅 The U. S. can’t really be one. It’s being used to imply political instability, I get that, and that would possibly be a situation in a true banana republic. However, I think it more applies to small nations that rely almost exclusively on agricultural exports like bananas, sugar cane, etc for their economy. America is an economic powerhouse: automobiles, electronics, fuel…. big time stuff.

Just been hearing it a ton lately so I wanted to put that out there. Admittedly a fun expression to say, though, lmao.

I can't tell if I'm just being super soy, but I feel like "Banana Republic" is kind of a fucked up expression to describe latin countries. I thought that even back when I was 16 or whatever, when I would go to the Banana Republic store at my local mall. I always just kind of wondered if anyone else saw that.
