The IRS already had armed agents (I almost interviewed for that job years ago in fact). That in itself is nothing new, but the increase in size is obviously because they're about to tax the hell out of a lot of people who don't yet realize it, and they expect resistance. Between that move and the build back broke bill, it seems the middle and upper middle class is being intentionally targeted for decimation.

Why in the world would the IRS need to be armed? That’s something that needs to be investigated. They aren’t law enforcement and for that matter, they conduct audits primarily via correspondence. Doesn’t make any sense.

IRS agents in the criminal investigation division carry firearms for obvious reasons. That isn’t something new. The 87,000 agents is the Treasury’s hiring goal over the next decade. While some of these hires will address understaffing, many of them will replace employees expected to retire over that time span. This whole thing is being distorted for partisan reasons when it’s really just a big yawn.

Do a little research and know what you’re talking about. The IRS is down 50,000 agents from attrition over the past five years. The new hiring plan covers those losses plus impending retirements, so the agency can continue to function. It’s a routine action. I work in a government agency, I know. Your hyperventilating misinformation purposely lacks any context behind it. You’re only fooling other fools.
