Does it have anything to do because they are women? Is it because their brains are wired differently to men? Do women react to fear differently than men?

+1 yIt has to do with the way leftist politics are marketed to voters, such that appeal to emotion tends to work better on a female than male voters. Female voters tend to feel bad about people whose choices have not worked out as well and thus are in voluntary bad situations then male voters who tend to have a thought process more in line with you reap what you sow. Female voters tend to prefer safe tyranny to dangerous freedom. With notable exceptions, female voters tend to prefer to avoid fighting over politics from a general aversion to conflict resulting from evolutionary biology. Throughout the course of human history, women tend to prefer to organize and cooperate, where men tend to go the rugged individual route unless compelled otherwise by overwhelming external force. Neither approach is more or less valid, but there are differences in feminine and masculine psychological make up that explain political preferences.

1.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Because men are taught to accept the need to suppirt themselves from childhood. But many women expect to be supported. And since lots of them are incapable or unwilling to pair up with someone willing to be the breadwinner, many women prefer to use government force to extract resources from whoever bothers to work and contribute to society, rather than supporting themselves.
Naturally this doesn't apply to all women, or all men. But a majority of men favor a "live and let live" approach, and most women prefer an authoritarian regime. And that works up to the point where everyone is piss poor... then they get to starve along with the guys who just wanted tp be left alone.

I hear a lot of talk about liberals being "weak" or "gay", while conservativism is often tied to traditional family structures/old fashioned ideas of masculinity. That kind of idea is gonna have a lot more hold over men, both in terms of appealing to them and in making them afraid to deviate from conservative ideas because doing so would threaten their masculinity. While women don't really have so much to lose there. Plus just the fact that liberal policies are more concerned with women's rights and women's well being than conservative ones are.

@ManHater I mean there's nothing wrong with consensual polyamory, but I don't really see how it connects to politics. I guess liberals might be more likely to be ok with it than conservatives, since liberals don't value tradition/traditional family structures as much, but beyond that it still seems pretty reasonable and consistent for liberals to prefer monogamy, if that's what works best for them
- +1 y
Liberals are big on consent. It actually seems like liberals are a lot less accepting of pedophilia or age gap relationships in general than conservatives are, both in terms of culture and in terms of politics. Like, you'll note that while liberals are super down with queerness, they're also severely against sexual harassment. There's A LOT of stupid tumblr discourse about stuff like kink at pride, or whether shipping underage characters is ok, etc. Lotta attempted cancellations that basically boil down to "this adult interacts with minors too much" or "this person said they like a fictional underage relationship"
- +1 y
It's very much not the case that liberals have no moral or ethical values sexually. It's just that their values aren't based on tradition. Liberals are fine with people doing whatever they want, as long as everyone involved can consent. So LGBTQ+ stuff, kink, and non-monogamy are fine. But cheating, pedophilia, bestiality, or unwanted exposure to sexual content are not.

+1 yI mean if you don't allow any woman to vote for the next 70 years, in that time frame every single president would be a republican, if you don't allow any man to vote for that same time frame, during that entire time you'll only get presidents that are democrats, that says it all doesn't it?

Most women think (maybe they don't think maybe I'm overstating what they're doing) in an actual effective way for the benefit of the country, to vote for the leader of a country the main objective should be for these people to do whatever it takes to make this country better, they don't do that, they whine about this and that and the notions of fairness and Equality in an extremely naïve way, there is no protectiveness and no basic understanding of tribal ideologies and how they've shaped the earth's entire history..

Hence we're also the most far left than we've ever been10 Reply1.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Colleges do all they can to propagandize their students into leftist ideology, and because of affirmative action and the anti-male disposition of American education, a growing majority of college students are women. This alone would explain some of the disparity. Also, our elite tend to use emotive reasoning (playing on empathy, etc.) instead of logic as a means of persuasion. This is more effective in affecting the opinions of women than men.
00 Replywell conservative ideals are just more beneficial to men
so why would a woman want to be conservative
its not that their brains are wired different, it's the opposite
nobody likes to be oppressed
when working class men couldn't vote they fought it and women did the same - liberal ideology for the people who are gonna benefit from a liberal ideology

+1 yMost conservatives women are stupid, come from rural areas and see themselves as less than.
If every womean was a conservative, women will still be oppressed, very limited rights and treated like ish in society.
The whole purpose of being a liberal is to try to right the wrongs and move forward to better and fair conditions for all instead of a select few.

Well, there is evidence that conservative women are more well adjusted psychologically, have more stable relationships, and have more children than leftist women. So pick your poison, I guess. In all seriousness, the differences in IQ, etc., between left and right are not as profound as people make them out to be and to the extent they are there, have much more to do with the nature of our elite and the values they select for and propagandize into people who pass through colleges than anything else.

There's a lot of arguments for abortion that make some sense. The one that makes the most sense to me is the utilitarian angle- morality is about preventing suffering and promoting happiness, and since fetuses can't feel suffering they don't have value in moral calculations. There's also the freedom/privacy/consistency angle- that medical decisions should be private matters, not for the state to intrude on. Or that we shouldn't be setting a precedent of forced organ donation, regardless of whether it might save lives or what kind of "responsibility" is involved.
- +1 y
- +1 y
I mean, it's not, but that's also not the argument. No one thinks it'll make all their problems disappear, it's just that some people think that pregnancy/having a child will cause more suffering in the world than an abortion will.
As far as the organs thing- if you want to treat a fetus as a person, an unwanted fetus is still a person using a separate person's organs without consent. Like if you were forced to give blood transfusions to keep another person alive. The argument is that when we're talking about fully separate adult people, it'd be horribly unethical to force organ/blood donation in any case. So if we're treating a fetus as a person, it would still be horribly unethical to force women to use their bodies to keep the fetus alive against their wills. - +1 y
You’re nonsensical in all your ways. Killing is wrong. If I killed your child or pet you would say it is wrong. You condone premeditated murder and demand the Right to Murder freely. You lack reason but have plenty of Liberal disregard for anything other Self. Sorry but you sound really stupid…your own fantasy brand logic. You are nonsensical
- +1 y
So are you a vegetarian then, if all killing is wrong? Also, do you actually want to understand the liberal position or not? It seems like you mostly just want to call it stupid, without actually thinking about whether it is or not, which makes me not really inclined to trust your opinion.
+1 yWomen value security. Ben Franklin and Winston Churchill both stated that those who are willing to trade freedom for security deserve neither and lose both. Women still make the trade, though.
07 Reply- +1 y
We're (basically) all trading freedom for security all the time. Living as part of a society, instead of out on our own fully independently, is trading freedom for security. Having a job so you can make money is trading freedom for security. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just a matter of what level of trade is or isn't acceptable.

@cipher42 for starters, 13% of my income goes into the Socialist Insecurity System, a retirement program with an abysmal rate of return.
About half of my income tax goes to entitlement programs, simply redistributing my money to people who didn’t earn it.
And, I look at results, not good intentions. Since Lyndon Johnson declared War on Poverty, we’ve spent tens of trillions of dollars and ended up with more people in poverty than prior to 1964. The income gap between blacks and whites was closing faster before the civil rights movement than after. Many of the social (ist) programs that have destroyed the black family were supported by Martin Luther King, Jr., himself. Again, I look at results not intentions.
The main purpose of government is to maintain the roads and control crime. Seeing what a piss poor job they do at that, why do I want them running my life for me? - +1 y
The lack of freedom you mention is pretty predominantly about money, not day to day life. That seems like not a huge element of freedom to me, especially given that republicans seem to focus more on tax cuts for corporations than for individual people. And as far as I've heard, democrats main focus has been raising taxes on corporations and very wealthy people, for whom a little less income won't really translate to significantly decreased freedom. In terms of non-financial things, which in my mind correlate a lot more directly with tangible freedom, it seems like republicans are a lot worse- "don't say gay" bills, trying to restrict transgender healthcare, porn bans, proposing birth control bans as an option, etc. Meanwhile, I'm not really aware of similar efforts on the part of liberals to meaningfully restrict day to day liberties.
- +1 y
Also, I'm a bit more interested in funding for things like education and research, and environmental preservation. I think making education more accessible and going for scientific advances actually do a lot to serve freedom. Plus labor laws/parental leave/etc. The main force in my life (and I think most American's lives) that actually impacts my freedom day to day is my job, which I (and again, most people) cannot give up. And that's not to mention the fact that privacy, a pretty essential part of freedom in my mind, is predominantly being eroded by republicans (though that's definitely an area where liberals aren't blameless either)
- +1 y
@cipher42 where did I say I was a Republican? I’ve been active in the Libertarian Party since the ‘80’s.
Democrats are doing plenty to restrict my freedom. They want universal healthcare which means I can’t pick my doctor and my medical records would be on a government database. Hillary Clinton, who illegally had 900 people’s FBI files in her possession advocated for this.
Liberals want people locked up if they don’t use the correct bull shit pronouns. Liberal Democrat mayors have tried to deny business licenses to Chic-fil-A franchises over their pronouns.
And, in my home of Honolulu, I can’t carry a gun even though crime rates are escalating, the police have some of the lowest closure rates in the nation, and the handful of people they do catch are slapped on the wrist by milquetoast, pantywaist judges.
