I think almost everyone feels that way at some point. Not in every part of life, but at least something. It can be some kind of experience, education, career, family, and the list goes on. I'm a dumb@ss when it comes to education and kind of stuck with how to move forward. I do know what my dream job is, but it's incredibly hard to get. Too much competition, very long waiting list, but at least I have some education related to it. It can take another decade to get it. What am I gonna do until then? I'm lucky with the low paying job I have now. So yeah, I missed some opportunities where I had potential.

I would be PERFECT to work in a record store or radio station but, in all my years on this planet, I've never been able to get either and have only ever had very short-lived jobs that have NOTHING to do with records or music!! It'd be like spending 20 years and thousands of dollars to become a brain surgeon and the only jobs you can ever get are things like, janitor, grass cutter, candy store clerk, pizza delivery, etc..

I’ve always wanted to work in a coffee shop. I love coffee and everything about it. But no one would ever hire me because I’m not a lesbian or vegan and I don’t look like some tattooed hipster with sensitive eyes. I’m kind of a big guy plus I’m a veteran, which I guess made me stick out. Now I’m too old to even be considered for that type of work. It’d be wonderful giving people their espresso or latte while playing music on the stereo for the patrons. And same day tips? God I’ve overheard baristas talking before, saying how they had already made $100 in tips and had only been at work a few hours. I’ve never had a job making tips in my entire life. Had a lot of shitty jobs though. Done work most people would balk at. And I’ve never once gotten paid same day.

@Agagagagaga I counted, a couple months ago, how many jobs I've had, even if they were just one day things (only a couple of those) and the grand total was about 63!! And I'm pretty sure I've forgotten a few because I remembered a few more since then. 3 different print shops, a book store, bike messenger, newspaper delivery, janitor, one day I was hired to help tear down a roller coaster at a fair, I've built swimming pools, worked for a bank on their I. R. S. project, cleaned out a 5-story office building, washed dishes in three different places, sold pantyhose door to door, sold shampoo door to door, there's no longer a whole hell of a lot I don't know how to do, anymore and I learn fast but I STILL can't get a god damn job and I very seriously doubt I'll EVER get the kind I've always wanted since I was about 5 years old!!

not really. I was a fat kid who became a marathon runner. I graduated from college and eent on to get 2 Masters degrees. I changed careers later in life and was successful and after 20 years I changed careers again, this time to be a college professor. I did al this while raising 3 kids and getting them all through college.

Very few people MAXIMIZE thier potential. I don't have any regrets. I think I've acomished what I've had THE CHANCE to accomplish. Not everything in life is in YOUR power to change. Not every path is open to anybody.
