Why are family-owned business reviled and huge corporations are loved?

Just read an article that made my blood boil. Basically, according to this so-called "expert", family-owned companies and groups are a "plague" while big corporations such as Amazon, Microsoft and Google are the "example" and bring progress and "equality".

Seriously, piss off - families like mine started with a shop or even less - my grandfather and his brother started literally with a cow and shack - and built their business over the years, producing work and progress, and now that they are millions worth businesses they somehow are a bad thing - while billions worth foreign companies are hailed as saviors. The double standard is staggering.

Most people I know, go to mom & pop's as much as possible, to support them first.

Sure there is some people that do what I call the Walmart effect, they go where ever the prices are cheaper, regardless of who it hurts or who is selling. That term is due to them moving into new area's, and the new store sells at a loss while corporate backs them, until they run competition out, then they raise their prices.

Those people only care about the immediate price.

I care about quality and service, I'll pay double for better quality and price. If it means I don't have to replace it in a few months from a store that the only employee is the person at the self checkout station.

I personally think big corporations are evil.

Cause they want to stomp out mon and pop stores and be the only name brand corporation around. They want all the money in their pockets, just look at how many small businesses walmart has kicked off during its years in business. Plus sometimes it was cheaper, faster, and easier to get what you needed at smaller stores versus going to place lije walmart that can be jammed pack with shoppers and only 2 cashier lanes open.

Because the owners of those huge corporations often have strong ties to the media, to politicians who own (or are owned by) the media, or both. This means political control becomes much easier, and as these businesses get more and more entrenched in more and more of the world, SOCIAL control becomes easier, too- if you write a book that's politically objectionable, and Wal-Mart and Amazon refuse to carry it, you've just lost the world's two biggest retailers. And that's just two companies. Would-be dictators LOVE having that kind of power.

I'll tell you why. It's because small businesses have developed a bad reputation. A lot of people start businesses as a means to "get rich quick.". So they intentionally rip off their customers with their pricing strategy, thinking they can make up for it with "charm" and "personal service.". It doesn't work that way. If you want to increase your profit margins, then be more efficient.

I work in a conservative suburban county (Clay County) adjacent to a conservative urban center. In Clay County, people love to support local businesses! It's one of the many things I like about Clay County.

Lol do you even know what CAPITALism means? that's exactly what this guy is saying, small business owners, or the "underdogs" are under attack. so if the "poor" (compared to the corporations) are under attack and basically censored by the free press, guess who's taking the capitalist advantage. and we've been BRAINWASHED into corporation BS. Capitalism is when the individual is in ownership of their own property and their own means of production instead of the state.

What happened during the pandemic with all the businesses shutting down was all the state's doing, some states used the police to forcefully shut down small businesses even if they only switched to online orders. All while leaving the big guys alone possibly due to lobbying power.

That was not a capitalistic move my friend.

I hate the Uber rich. They are useless and selfish. Only think about money and power. They dont even care about their employees. Oh and the ruin the economy with "inflations".
