But don't you think we should call 911 too?
This question was inspired by another question asked by Liam.
I have long suspected that when a young girl is being raped and those people record it. They claim they are recording it for evidence, but in reality they are pervs who just want to watch and that is their excuse if they get caught.
They could call 911 but they all assume someone else did, and they want that recording to watch later or upload or whatever.
Even better they could intervene, help stop the attack before it starts or gets too far alone.
That is what I'd personally do, I'd be a big pain in the ass... like that one girl would was being raped and everyone was recording until the woman came along and like, wtf and stopped it.
So no I would not record it, I'd intervene to stop it, unless it was minor crime that won't have life long major effects then I'd just call 911.
I have witnessed a crime I guess it was a crime. This lady punched a guy in the face and than she followed him down onto the train station platform where she tried to attack the guy's pregnant girlfriend but the guy stepped in the middle and the girl once again punched him and next thing her friends all came running and drinks were being thrown than some guy I guess the girl who punched the guy parole officer or carer came and took the girl away.
I had 000 ready to be called on my phone. At no time did I think to film any if it.
I would rather know the nature of the crime first. Guy robbing a really expensive car that some rich guy owns I don't care that much to call the cops lol.
Guy recording a film while I am the Cinema sat near them couldn't care at all.
Some rape going down well I would stop that myself. Cops would take to long anyway.
Someone been killed I would have to ask the killer why first? Though not sure how that worked tbf lol.
If he had the wrong answer tho I would kill him so it's all fairs. Though his correct answer could be I am killer who is killing this other killer or killing a guy who tried to rape my daughter. Then I would just leave him to it.
Without knowing the nature it's hard to decide something that could be a very wrong choice.
Floyd's win was bullshit. The cop didn't do anything to him that he wasn't supposed to. Floyd was ALREADY yelling about how he couldn't breathe before the cop even touched him or put him in the cop car!! He was OD-ing on Fentanyl and THAT'S what killed him.
What should be discussed is the woman on the subway that got raped ON the train and everyone around her did fuck all except to shoot video!! Had I been on that train, that fucker would be dead or at least screaming in severe pain from what I would've done to his nuts!!

This obsession with video'ing everything to post on social media is CRAZY!
I'd film it on my phone and tell someone else to call 911, because video evidence is going to be important for prosecution.
Now if I was the only one there to call 911, that's a different story. I'd do that first. I couldn't do both because my phone can't record and make phone calls at the same time.
George Floyd however, was a career felon who overdosed on fentanyl and committed suicide, but was raised up as a political prop and fake martyr anyway. It's like the same thing they did to Che Guevara, who was a piece of sh*t and Marxist in his own right.
Having everyone taking selfies with George Floyd didn't work out so good for him but it sure worked out great for his family. 27 Mil, Can you say Ka-Ching!
@exitseven that one girl filmed the incident for 9-1/2 minutes. It showed the cop slowly killing him. I was under the impression that it helped win his case🤷🏼♀️
911 should be called on most crimes, ngl sometimes dispatch can be a problem, which is why people choose not to report crimes. But if I see someone in need I'm incline to help. I don't mind twisting a dumb asses wrist if it's a 5150 keep your distance, cause they're mostly intoxicated or outta this world lol
It depends. If intervening would help, I'd do that.
If intervening would present too much risk, I'd call 911 and then immediately begin recording the incident for evidence.
Yea it's annoying and sad, it's like being stabbed and someone runs up to you and shoves camera in your face instead getting help. But I'm guessing people also do it to get proof cause they also know how shady some can be or it may take a while for them to respond so you need evidence. Still a lot people are recording just to get likes and hits online.
Depends on the crime. A guy did a hit and run in the parking lot of a convenience store I was at. There was a cop inside the store. And he still got away. 2 witnesses and no one got a plate.
I guess what I'm saying is sometimes that "evidence" can be very helpful. When a crime is committed you're left to the mercy of the current workload of the police. If that guy had run a person over it would have been given higher priority (as it should). The cops want to catch every criminal. But thier take is this is what insurance for which is true (but there's still the deductible which in my case was really high).
If I was a guy I would help but I am 5’1 and half 119lb. I can’t do much to help pretty much anyone. It sucks but I can’t help that I wasn’t born a guy with testosterone, strength, natural aggression
I have heard of many instances of women beaten up by men in public. It makes me sad for them and women in general (myself as well)
But to answer your question, I would call the police, hope for the best, and leave. I hate violence
The one time that scenario happened to me, I called 911 while body blocking the knock out person with 8 other guys at a grocery store. One guy even drove his car on the sidewalk and join the body block another guy donkey punch the assailant and ran off.
I willing to bet that is more common then not. That's why it's not on the news.
I'd be pulling out my 45 and letting the criminal know, nope not today motherfucker.
@captain_voidwalker great answer! 😎
Theft is a violent crime, public urination isn't something I'd care about unless kids were around.
@captain_voidwalker
So if I catch you jaywalking, not recycling, or watching pirated TV shows and movies on your phone out in public, that means I get to shoot you, right? 😉
Yes absolutely
I would call it in. I remember a case of a girl being raped on a beach and no one stepped in to help but several people filmed it. They caught the guy who did it due to all the video evidence but, jeez, poor girl, not a single person stepped into help!
@LegallyBad a similar situation happened on a commuter train. This lady was being robbed and hit and not one person helped her. They just looked on as she was screaming for help. I remember her saying "Isn't anybody going to help me?".
Call 911... and record from a safe distance. People don't like to be recorded... and will get violent if they can touch you. :)
The videoing of crime is important but I will say especially if its not in a crowd you make yourself a target.
Absolutely 💯 I've seen girls fighting and people video it with their phones! I don't understand people watching people get hurt. It's really sick 😫
Really depends on the crime. some stuff i couldn't be bothered or don't want to risk myself doing anything. If it's something that actually upsets me and that i'm not in that much danger if i do anything anything about it, i'd call the cops 100%. might also record for evidence
911 of course. If I were packing, I'd evaluate stepping in. Armed robbery, naah, rape, yup.
It depends on what others are doing. If someone else is calling 911, I can get the video and visa versa. If The Peoples’ Republic of Hawaii will issue me a concealed carry permit, I might even stop the crime.
I'm not being anyone's hero lol. I'm not recording, calling the cops, nothing. I will mind my own business
I'd call 911, I've never understood the logic behind filming such things without the intention of perhaps keeping it as proof of the crime for the victim.
I would do both because you need the evidence and calling asap are keys to saving lives as well as catching the person who is committing the crime.
I’d call 911 and draw my weapon and keep them there till cops arrived
@Precipice not in my state
I would film from my phone and comment on how startled I am.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/iMfcxUjYQ7QI would call 911. I'm sure there are enough other people taking a video with their phones.
I’m assuming Liam’s question was inspired by the series finale for Seinfeld?
Depends on what type of crime. If it were a crime against a person or property I probably would but not for drugs or sex
Why the hell should i film them omg what an era.. ofc i would call 911
Call 911 too many people assume that someone else will call.
Usually when someone is filming a crime in particular police brutality they usually stop because they know they are on video or someone already called the police and are now recording
Calling 911 or 112, the international 911, is the right thing to do.
Id call 911 and then think about recording whatever was happening.
Calling 911 doesn’t pay as well as filming it for the lawyers!
Phones can do both simultaneously. Can’t they?
Totally depends on the crime. Animals or kids involved I will get the authorities to get the problem checked.
Call 911 - that's what it's for.
And - for those who think otherwise - consider if you were the one getting violated.
I will film it because at thet I time I may not remember the no. For police
If it's kids or elderly people ill help if not I will mind my own business.
Call 911 and even interfere myself if I can
I wouldn’t do either. I’d put a stop to the crime
I'm more of the type who would try to stop it than call 911
I would only record after calling 911, it would be stupid not too
I’d try and do both. If I can’t, I’d just simply call the cops.
Calling 911 must be done but filming it is helpful to use as evidence in court.
911 Of course!!! xxoo
I would call 911 and not record
Run to the sound of the guns!
I would call 911
Call the cops & get out of there.
I would call 911
Call 911 then start filming
Call 911. I treat the police in my area.
The cell phones come out
Call 911
I would film and Call 911 as well.
Could I do both?
both if i could!
