Basic logic. This world is a miserable place filled with suffering; a consequence of the physical realities that govern it, and the human effort that's made it possible to endure that suffering (in ages past, the homeless simply died out). Without further human effort, the world continue along that path, and NOTHING WILL IMPROVE.

If girls truly don't care about others, than that's a sad comment on their own lack of compassion, but I won't become more cold-hearted just for the sake of social acceptance.
