They've been getting on my last fucking nerves. They stand literally in the middle of the road and bang on your window and beg. If you have time to beg then you have time to fill out job applications. Then you move into a nice neighborhood then here they come with their tents. It's embarrassing. I already don't care for people because you give them an inch they'll take a damn mile. So I don't help their asses

I dont get why people are in the comments complaining about the rich and that they should take care of homeless people. That mindset is why people are seen as entitled and why they will remain bums. Rich people owe you nothing. They worked to get where they are so they're entitled to every penny of their money.

You have the same opportunities as those people who became rich. If you choose not to take advantage of that opportunity it's your own fault. Stop blaming the rich for your own life choices. How would you like it if people told you that you need to give your entire paycheck to the homeless shelter? Sounds dumb right? Bc you worked your ass off for that check. Like get real

It's stupid if they refuse to go to homeless shelters because of the curfew. They think being homeless is better than waking up before 10 to let the shelters clean your bed for FREE. Always refusing help. They got pizza once and some homeless couldn't get a single slice standing in line because some other homeless took 3 boxes to themselves and didn't finish the rotten pizza in the rooms they stayed
They will try to rub your newly washed car window with a old wiper and make it dirtier too. And they yell at immigrants coming in even though they are not working with the better opportunity they had. Now I know where the f grade students and school dropouts went
It literally drives me crazyy. Like 75% of the homeless people I see are either fat or overweight. Like bitch how are you starving with 'no money' but yet you are still somehow carrying those extra pounds? In my county panhandeling is illegal so I usally only see them when I go places. And here's another thing, one time I was with my dad and he saw a homeless veteran on the road with a sign, it said something about being hungry and needing money so my dad drove through wendy's and got him a whole meal. The guy refused and said he just wanted the money so he can buy his own food, and my dad was like sorry i was just trying to help. That shows that most homeless people most likely need the money for other things like drugs and stuff. And I hate how people put that kind of stuff on the rich, like yes ok my family is very rich but my parents have worked their asses off to be where we are now. There was a point where my dad was working 4 jobs at the same time so don't say how we need to give our money to the people who would rather beg for things instead of getting up and solving the problem like every other grown ass adult has done before.

Guys at work were talking about a really tall homeless guy outside.
Said he must be on drugs etc.. On the way home I looked closer at him , unusualy just pass him by. I recognized him as a friend from highschool, he didn't do drugs, drink etc. I talked to him, he says his wife left him after he got laid off and he fell into a depression. He fell behind in child support and wound up in jail. "My life spiralled downhill from there" he said. I gave him $100 fed him, let him shower in my workshop a gave him clean clothes. He said he was going to get a bus back home. Hope he's ok.
I have sympathy for them, sure, but I don't like enabling then if they are possibly addicts by giving them money. I will give food, but not money.
Also, job applications these days are normally submitted online and require technology. They also require resumes to be submitted. So if they don't have access to that it is a definite struggle and limits them. Sure, they can go to local areas and fill stuff out and what not, but they still need to be able to be contacted and reached. Kind of a vicious circle and difficult unless they have good friends or family they can stay with long enough to help them out.
I have a soft spot for homeless people. No they dont don’t get on my nerves. It’s not easy to get job. Despite the several places that seem to be hiring. Who is gonna hire someone with no address? You have to have an address, 2 forms of ID, and be clean looking. If youve been on the street for months then you most likely aren’t gonna look clean. Some homeless people love being homeless. Some are on drugs and some are just down on their luck. I don't know anyones situation so I try not to judge them because anyone can easily become homeless even me.

Each of us is at risk for suddenly falling upon hard times (health, loss of job). Most of us could go to family and/or friends for help to get us past misfortune.
The chronic homeless are mostly addicts and mentally ill. They have been cast off by family and friends who won't put up with them. Furthermore they have refused to accept living in homeless shelters and taking drug treatment where sobriety and living hours are enforced.
So I agree that these people of the streets who have chosen this life should not be begging for gifts or standing in the way of those of us with work to do.

Well everyone is entitled to their opinion. However nobody asked what causes someone to be in that situation and what hurdles they have to go through in order to make it to the next day. Who are we to say that these people never attempted to fill out an application but were judged. Would you consider ever hiring a homeless person to do work for you. There is a good chance the answer is no yet we are quick to move the burden onto others. If you were in that position and you attempted to apply for work and change your life around there is a good chance there would be a strong stigma attached on you regardless of how hard you may try. For some its is easier to work with what you have.
I absolutely would hire a homeless person if they possess the skills to do the job. If they're good with their hands I'd hire them in maintenance depending in their background.
I agree with you, rich people shouldn't be helping the homeless, if they can take time to be on the streets or panhandling then they should get a job application and work for Walmarts, I know what it feels like to live on small Welfare money, I never saw the money my parents took it from me, Nope I didn't ask to be on Welfare but I was mentally ill I had no choice I was living at home then finally I got on a better income it was better living at home than going to live in a group home but I would of probably got $32.00 a week to live on better then nothing
Yes it bothers me. I cam from a big family. Growing up we never had much of anything. In my teens I was dealt a hand full of bad experiences. I should have died at least twice. my father taught me life is all about making choices. in my opinion some people make to many bad choices. I could have given up sat and collected a disability check or welfare when the doctors told me I was never going to walk after being run down by a car. But it wasn't how I was brought up. I wouldn't let it happen.
They don't bother me. I simply ignore them. In general though I tend to ignore a lot of the world around me. I am very much the kind of person that does their best to disconnect from the world around them, prefers solitude and their own place.
Well, it’s important to remember that, despite what anyone else tries to tell you to the contrary, not everyone has an equal opportunity at success, not everyone has equal abilities for success, and addiction is a disease, not a shortcoming. Between those three things, it explains a lot of reasons that people end up homeless, and is the reason we should have empathy for people in those situations, if we want to consider ourselves at all decent and at all evolved.
no but then along with a law prohibiting them from begging here in the uk we also have many charities set up to try to help them get back on their feet... do remember nearly half the population of your country and mine are only a couple of paychecks away from being homeless themselves. its rarely a life choice

and the answer to it is right there... make begging ilegal and set up help centres... this is why we pay more tax towards social care in the uk rather than funding a massive war machine
There are some women-only homeless shelters, but not for men, even though most homeless are men. You are NOT given the same opportunity as anyone or everyone else. Social mobility is still extremely low. Society is structured in a way that benefits few on expense of many. I absolutely support the heavy taxation of the super rich to provide for the poor. I don't support priviliging anyone based on anything (blacks, women etc.). Also, Adam Smith was firmly against landlords, despite being the father of capitalism. I would agree with Mr. Smith and say that while I support many capitalist ideas, everyone deserves a roof over their heads. Period.
When i see a homeless person, i dont see them as an annoyance. I feel for them so i give some money. I would like to be more active in assisting them with food, water, clothing, shelter and landing a job. But i just haven't. A part of me feels its not my place to provide for them but another part of me wants to do that good deed
They don't in general but about a month ago I was chilling in my car before going to work and this homeless guy knocked on the window to ask for money and that annoyed me.
In California the communist governor has told the police to just leave them alone and let them do whatever they want so it has gotten completely crazy over here. I have even seen them go into traffic and stop cars trying to get money from them.
Yes they do that here. I'm just going to run them tf over because I can't be stopping in the middle of the road risking car to car accident. The police gets them and then they come back at another time. One even knocked on my window. I told him if he does that shit again I'll run him over.
Agreed, it is really scary and they will even sometimes approach you in a shopping center parking lot or at gas stations while filling up your car. I have had it happen many times.

Some of those "homeless" are simply homeowners that have been out of work for an extended period. Some are truly homeless but don't know about the many programs available to help them.
Right they've been doing that shit lately. They've become more and more aggressive. If I run them over then I run them over. I truly don't care. They shouldn't be in the middle of the road and they're jaywalking anyway
@AndrésC64 as me and @MrOracle have said you are the problem. You're feeding their addiction, further enabling them which results in them continously being in thr middle of road ways, buying drugs and alcohol, camping out in front of homes and not looking for resources on their own. At your age I'd expect better
Andres, you are part of the problem rather than part of the solution. Giving cash is exactly why we have this problem. If you want to help, for real, offer to give them food (buy them a meal), or make a couple of phone calls and see if you can get them a bed at a local shelter. Cash will only feed their addiction (booze and/or drugs) and encourage them to keep begging in the streets. Your spare change does more harm, not less.

There are real monsters out there people who drive nice cars and think they have this kind of thing all figured out. People who beg may have different reasons for doing this. Beds at shelters are full up, and a lot of people have no place to go. Don't assume you know what they are going through. Tough love doesn't work here.
@Citizenkirk Thank you. People end up destitute and homeless for a multitude of reasons. It doesn't necessarily mean that they are lazy. Maybe they are unable to work. Maybe they have a mental illness. Maybe they have a physical disability. Some of the people in the comments here are truly repulsive humans who seemed to have no empathy.

The big liberal cities on the west coast have the same attitude that you do, and every year, there are huge increases in handouts by the government. Based on your way of thinking, that's good and should go a long way towards solving the problem, but that's because you don't understand the problem.
The reality is that every year, there are more and more people who are out on the streets panhandling for drug and booze money. The numbers INCREASE with every increase in government spending, because people think more giveaways will help. But 30 years of that has only grown the problem by 2000%.
What is needed is for existing laws to be enforced and prosecuted and for criminals to be given the choice of jail or mandatory detox/treatment. A few states do this and it has made a huge difference and saved many lives.
