Why is it that the guys that do nothing but help people always get treated like shit?

From what I've learnt in life, you have to be careful as to whom you help. Being friendly and polite is nice, but you must be selective when it goes beyond that. Some people like to take, never give. Some people are selfish and don't care who they use.

Because a lot of those people (not just men) fail at establishing boundaries or healthy expectations within their social circle. If they start doing whatever their friends wish of them.. that’s a boundary they set on their own which they’re free to reestablish at any point in time.
