Fuel prices seem to go down prior to elections, this one is no exception. $3.29 cash today... cheap... lol... big drop from $4.50! Enjoy it while it lasts into early November.

If it is manipulated, I suspect that's what it is, it's done to adjust your psychology to think the people in charge are doing a good job. Power of the traders under control of the govt. They will do everything they can to manage your perceptions. Each prior govt did the same back to at least Obama, there's nothing new here.

They generally have to make up for the drop in price by rising it higher to compensate. Not to mention, constriction in corn production due to draught, higher fertilizer prices meaning higher corn prices next year and thus higher corn cost of. ethanol... I'd expect costs to go way up again even as they tap the Strategic petroleum reserve, unless signs of global economy slow down show up.

While gas is less expensive, it still has a long way to go to get back to where it was.
Psychologically it seem cheap now.
Run it up to 5 bucks a gallon, the oil companies make a quick ten billion or so, drop it back down a bit and people now think it's cheap.
It isn't cheap.
Those higher prices just mean that there is less money that you and I have to spend for other things.
It is money that is directly taken out of the economy.
Say your weekly budget is 300 a week.
That 300 is now less due to inflation, and if 2 parties work outside of the house it now costs an extra 20ish dollars a week for gas.
At the end of the year that is $1,040 dollars that could have been used elsewhere.
This number could be even higher based on where you live.

Fuel and gasoline prices will go way up again after the US November election.

The Democrats ran down the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) putting the country in serious danger in the event of a crisis in order to temporarily lower gas prices before the November election to fool voters (gas prices are still massively higher than when Trump was in office). But that is ending very soon and gas prices will rise again. Then they will have to fill up those reserves again at a very high cost to taxpayers while causing taxes, national debt and gas/fuel prices to go even higher.

In early 2020, when China unleashed Covid on America, oil dropped to one of the lowest prices ever at around $20 a barrel. President Trump proposed taking advantage of that price drop to fill up the SPR. The Democrats stopped it. Now taxpayers are going to have to pay a fortune to refill what Biden and the Democrats wasted on this political stunt to buy votes.

I like how you think that’s expensive. The prices have come down a little bit where I live, but for several months it was an average of C $2.10/L which is just over US $6/gallon. It’s all controlled by the supply and demand of crude oil, which is affected by so many different factors like the economy, war, geopolitics, etc. Individual governments don’t actually have much impact on the price. They can subsidize it with tax dollars, but that’s about it.

My first job out of high school gas was 24.9 cents per gallon.
He was having a gas war with the station across the street.
I could not put 75 cents worth in my motorcycle, and even if my car was completely empty I could not put 3 bucks worth in, and it got 33 mpg.
I was making $1.20 an hour.
Not it costs 15 bucks to fill up my lawn mower.

Biden has used the national petroleum reserves to artificially lower gasoline prices just in time for the election. It will go up after it has been used up and Biden will have to buy oil to replace it from some foreign country for a hundred bucks a barrel instead of getting it from America for less than half that like Trump did.
