Is the political slogan or idea of America first or your particular country comes first offensive to you, why, why not?

Well, America First makes sense as an actual ideology. But in practice it was America last.
There is an issue with our political discourse. Where slogans actually have the opposite meaning. And being disingenuous is a political strategy. It underminds our ability to have actual discussions about public policy. Since many people have no actual belief in the arguments they are making. It leads to distrust in conversations. I will never understand why people make disingenuous arguments. It only prevents people from taking you seriously.
Just a bad slogan all around for me.
"You are only as strong as your weakest point."
If you're not whole you will just crack in half. You need to up lift on a foundational level for everyone and anyone left behind will leave a crack.
It should be world first. It’s not like there is anywhere to go if nukes (as only example) start flying. Country is just a small part of humanity. Definitely for patriotism, but not to the detriment of the whole.
Not offensive to me at all.
My nation comes first.
Which one?

It's not offensive. Each country should be putting their own citizens as a top priority before those of another. I understand wanting to maintain political relations, but there's a certain point where a majority of the money and supplies meant for others can greatly support those in need in said country.
I think we're starting to use patriotism as a political pawn. Being a patriot is not for politics. If you are a Democrat you're considered not Patriot. If you are a Republican you are a patriot. If you are a Democrat you're a liberal. If you are a Democrat you could be socialist, communist. If you're a Republican you're a rebel, a far right person. I have no objections of being right or left that tells you where you are standing in your political views. Now we're using patriotism. It needs to stop. I'm getting tired of this political BS.
The primary duty of any government is to protect its people and their property, so such a statement makes perfect sense as long as the reference is to the people of the nation and not to the administration of the corrupt politicians who might currently be running things.
No it doesn’t, but too bad even the politicians who claim this don’t actually follow it.
Personally, depending on the issue, I prioritize other things over my country. Generally, my priority is the defense of my family > friends > myself > my community > my state (though my state can really suck ass), my country > other countries.
Why would you put a entity that can suck @$$ above other countries? You dislike other countries even more?
No, because it patriotic to put one's country interests first, also this how realpolitik works.
You ignore class solidarity and are proud of made up lines on a map. There’s a reason American billionaires will not hesitate to fire your ass and close down factories so they can get cheaper production overseas. There’s a reason Billionaires like trump try to appeal to middle and lower class white nationalists for elections but his actual inner circle and friends are billionaire Europeans and Arabs. You probably have more in common with a French working class guy than an American billionaire who won’t even think that you are worth his time.
Nice communist speech but it fail to make me hate billionaires, unless they are George Soros kind of billionaires. Are you implying that Donald Trump was all talk? but Donald Trump's muslim ban and wall was effective and true to his promises, and Joe Biden the leftist was ruining both those things. Cheaper production overseas? and what about illegal immigrants stealing job places? I might be okay with french working class guy, but I don't want my country to be flooded by illegal immigrants from shithole countries, and I am not okay with islamic terror that muslims bring. Donald Trump might have arab friends but it didn't stop him from banning islamic threats.

Another MAGAtard with dumb opinions. The glasses gave it away. Nothing but racism and conspiracy theories muh George Soros controls the world. Don’t worry you might hate Muslims but Trump doesn’t and he’ll pick the rich ones over your broke ass any day.
Putting your country first, like putting your family first, is the right thing to do. It's wrong, however, when some people put their "country only".
Never wrong to only put your country first.
The weak can’t carry the weak. Only the strong can carry the weak.
When America weakens itself through ass backward liberal stupidity it ultimately harms other countries vs. helping them.
No because my peeps or fellow citizens are in this country. And, I like to see all people status in life Improve. Everyone sees growth…
Anyone wo believes that doesn't deserve to survive all past any other country or people. Good riddance to those who don't have the common sense to put their own family, people or country before others
Not at all where the 1st Amendment is freedom of speech and freedom of expression. Just like putting family first and charity should start at home. An example would be someone who just turned 16 and instead of family celebrating it with you, they decide to go to a stranger's house buying them a new car and not acknowledging your 16th birthday, How would that make feel?
If you live in a country, wouldn't you want a leader who makes solving the issues of your country a high priority? Otherwise you'd have a neglectful leader.
Absolutely not. Every government ought to put the interests of their own citizens first.
Why would this be offensive? A government should care for and protect it's own citizens before even the slightest consideration of other people.
Nowt wrong with that. Everyone's surely a little patriotic now and then.
Simples...
The leader of any other country represents the interests of that country. Ours should, too!
In terms of saying we are better than anyone else? Not a chance in hell. We are run by elitist corporations with a broken pension, education, and healthcare system... Just to name a few. People come first.
Would you like to have a country you really hate, such as Israhell or North Korea, to come first? I ain’t nationalist. There are loads of nations with people I love. 🇺🇦🇵🇸🇲🇦🇩🇿🇲🇽🇮🇹🏴🏴🇮🇷
America is not a country. It’s a continent.
If you live in US and have a problem with it, kindly leave.
I support it, but you would think all countries put their own countries first.
the entire point of a country is to put your own people first
We can't get by in this world, without our friends
Russia wants us to be by ourselves, because PUTIN, EX KGB, wants to take back what he believes is rightfully his. THE IRON CURTAIN
Depends what one means by "first". If it's just patriotism, then it's not offensive.
We should as a nation out America first but don't leave out God
This isn’t something new. Americans have always been that way
Devils in the details. But usually this nationalistic fervor is rooted in anger or hatred of others.
It's not offensive to me. But I can how it might be to some. Which is why I don't use it.
How is it offensive?
Well to quote Jon Liebowitz "we're a nation of immigrants. We're kind of founded on looking down on each successive wave of immigration", as though it's going to weaken our country. (I mean my ancestors came over during the potato famine of Ireland. My ancestors were the reviled lot then.) But in actuality our nation's diversity is it's strength. I can see how some people might read America first as "Rich, White people first". I'll extremely proud of my country. But with great power comes great responsibility. America needs to always challenge itself to be better.
The irony is America is full of racist. A nation thrives best in a homogenous society.
Diversity brings ruin because people of different nationalities, backgrounds, culture, religious beliefs and political beliefs pack into one area brings about conflict and division.
Hideously offensive. The US is the world's leading terrorist nation.
Can You back that up? I ain’t disagreeing with You.
What’s up with Somalia? If Vietnam is about the Vietnam War, wasn’t there two Vietnams and one was a communist country? Now, Vietnam ain’t that bad.
@HippieVeganJewslim In Somalia, the US has killed many civilians with drones indiscriminately. If you don't know about Vietnam, do come research.
That is barbarically cruel and cruelly barbaric. I know that Vietnam War was very long, like 30 years, and might’ve been due to politics, but I wasn’t taught that stuff in school. Many songs, like Give Peace a Chance, Happy Christmas, Imagine, and possibly Time of the Season were written because of the war. Many were drafted into the war. I think Muhammad Ali refused because of non-violence/scared and reverted into (The Nation of) Islam.
Vietnam went on for a fairly long period of time probably at least 8 years if not longer although in the beginning US forces were hidden from public View and the US would not admit that it had troops in Vietnam. Later on however it became immediately obvious. The reason that the war went on for so long was twofold first, the US wanted to drill for oil in the South China Sea and could not do that unless Vietnam was in US hands and secondly and equally important if not more so was that the US wanted an ongoing market for us defense contractors to sell their goods and this is a reason that the war continued for as long as it did. This is been a very substantial reason for almost every subsequent War that the US has fought and there have been many of them some of which you have probably heard of and many which you probably have not heard of. since World War ii, every war that the US has been in has been fought specifically for money.
So it was some more do-goody-good bullshit, not only Kommunism. Like how Walker declared war on wee Iraq, who didn’t do much bad, or maybe anything.
@HippieVeganJewslim What is you understanding of how many Iraqui civilians were killed in that "harmless" war?
Hundreds of thousands, possibly millions. Many were my brethren.
@HippieVeganJewslim Yes.
Common sense America First
It’s not offensive. I just find it stupid.
Why?
I will copy and paste my reply to the other guy:
“You ignore class solidarity and are proud of made up lines on a map. You probably have more in common with a French working class guy than an American billionaire who won’t even think that you are worth his time.”
Ok, but you can't base the idea and promoting one's country first before the world and citizens of that country just because a select few might use such slogan to gain advantage politically.
The idea and promotion is what counts as it instills national pride in one's country especially teaching the youth to take pride in their nationality and country as patriots.
Nationalism is for the poor. Capitalism is for the rich. You should always look at how the ruling class and corporations of a country act to understand where they stand on things. Like I said dude it’s fine if you want to teach your kids to love their country that’s up to you. Personally from my experiences in a high ranking finance job the people will up top will spout nonsense about being proud of the company and how you should work your ass of to beat other companies (I work for private equity where we compete with other private equity firms to acquire small companies) but my bosses will take the competing firms bosses out to expensive dinners and buy them wines. We work long hours a day to keep the firm running and they don’t care. I probably get along more with Billy from accounting in the competing firm rather than my boss at the company. At least Billy and I can bond over a nice beer at a bar, the billionaire boss will think it’s not worth his time to hangout with you after work. This is the best analogy I can come up with for the situation. Why should people under the bosses be proud of the company and have this competitive and hate mindset against people of other companies? Same thing with countries why should billionaires and the ruling class be buddies buddies with billionaires and dictators around the world while they teach us to fear middle and lower class people from other countries? I’d probably have more fun sparking a joint with a Canadian and Mexican dude than some stuck up rich American. I hope you got my point but that’s my opinion from my life experiences.
Of course not! Isn't it just common sense?
Sure is.
Patriotism should never have to be apologized for.
