I'm actually a little on the fence about them. They are potent ways to tell a truth but are also potent ways to mislead or lie. This one is particular is a good example of a misleading one. If it was "uncle sam" standing on the books it would be accurate, but that appears to be an "as old as possible" caricature of Biden, as if to suggest he personally had anything to do with any of those. Using "uncle sam" would displace the blame to the entire US, where it should be, and hypocrisy is a real problem in the US (and everywhere, really - although, pointing out that someone is a hypocrite is ultimately a red herring, as it sidesteps the grounds for the criticism, instead just attaching a hypo). We do tend to blatantly ignore our history and ask that our leaders escape accountability. Perhaps more so that other countries. Perhaps less. I don't know because that's how things go when they are ignored.
But yeah, this is clearly pro Russian propaganda. By not using uncle sam it invites the third of the country that voted against Biden to displace all the blame for our past atrocities onto Biden and democrats (even though a substantial number of them occurred under republican administrations), and making him appear cartoonishly old covers the fact that they have to temporarily contradict the dementia narrative by providing something else to mock. Surprised it doesn't have Putins signature on the bottom 😂

I don't see Japan as a war crime lol it was WW2 and they took over half of Asia and enslaved people and kept fighting. What happens in war when you do tons of evil you get bombed and what happen they signed the treaty.
Ukraine isn't even apart of NATO, they're just close to the west. Therefore Putin attacked because he wants to rebuild the soviet union again. But it didn't go his way so using nukes in Ukraine is not justifiable, but he can fight his war all he wants cause yeah we have invaded countries all the time.
I appreciate them. It’s a kind of gentle vehicle to get hard points across. Satire makes the unpalatable news palatable- mitigating conflict - bc humor is ubiquitous. I think people are increasingly relying on Comedians to deliver the news, bc their loyalty is to illustrating absurdity - which gets at the truth- whilst journalism & political commentary has become a team sport personal opinion promotion.
If everyone were to go by ‘feeling’… this world would be doomed by: impulsively, closed minded individuals-
Oh wait, that sounds a TINY bit familiar…

Politiks in general always makes me think of willful ignorance on a collective level, on both sides. Intended to create an us vs them mentality. A house divided cannot stand. Who benefits from the us vs them mentality that's created?
I think democratic republics should take inspiration from where the idea/s were created; in other words Rome / Greece. Good ideas prove themselves & so do bad ones, censorship is anathema to free speech. I think people should have to defend their opinions / ideas in public debate.
It's pathetic, evil whataboutism. Putin is a war criminal. He committed war crimes in Chechnya, in Syria, in Ukraine. Also, the people pushing this narrative the hardest (assholes like Tucker Carlson) were ALL IN on Iraq and the War on Terror. They loved those war crimes. And they clearly still love war crimes, because they're fine with Putin blowing up children with high explosives. Because he isn't woke, or something.
At this point calling any world leader or government calling out another for war crimes is a case of the pot calling the kettle black. So if the cartoon wanted to be accurate he would be pointing at himself with the other hand.
The purpose is usually to succinctly capture a message.
In that image, the virtue signalling of the West is laid bare.
I. e. Our crimes are fine, yours are not.
Most of thje time they are anti American liberal BS. This guy is usually spot on however.
not usually, shows satire and the BS in the statements and different perspectives. Not always true or painting the full picture. can be thought provoking.
Arguing politics is pointless. You’re never going to convince the opposite side. You can bring up countless points of wrongdoing they’ll counter with your party’s fault’s. They’ll never stop and say “wow you convinced me!”
If any of you think that there are “good guys” and “bad guys” in war and geopolitics you’re very naive.
No. I think Political Cartoons are neither humorous, nor cartoons. It's for the lowest of low-hanging-fruit people.
Nope. They are just propaganda to help brainwash the easily brainwashed
I think it gives another perception of politics that appeals to less or involved audience
No and to be honest I don't get half of them.
They're too apt at times.
Most of them these days aren't really that good.
