Trending & News The Cold War's over- it's a damn shame that so many of the people in power here either never accepted that, or are the same leaders we had back then. The rise of the Pax Americana made same degree of sense, back when the great threat was there (if overestimated); now the danger is China, which is WAY to economically interlinked with the US to risk moving against directly.
Eisenhower warned about the military-industrial complex; would that we had listened. Would that ANYONE had listened.
It's more like trade war now between the entire world Vs China alone.. We have to agree that china being the most dependent country in terms of several goods and products bcz of their economically low values.. But this dependency has to be ended. It's trade war going around everywhere.. We never know what's happening behind back doors...
China's huge advantage is the almost total lack of environmental or labor laws; that lets them drop prices like ROCKS. It's also why they are, in the long term, totally screwed.
Consider the US energy grid. Now, the smart thing to do would be to maintain a robust, DIVERSE energy grid, so that if problems emerged with one or two sources, we'd still be okay, since we'd have others to fall back on. Instead, we doubled down on oil, and half our political population decided to try and abolish oil, without replacing it with anything else. Solar's an environmental nightmare (in addition to its other problems) and wind power? Well, every single one of those turbines requires 150 lbs of rare earth magnets, which are mined from a single mountain range in- care to guess? China.
BOTH our political parties rail against nuclear power, which is our one viable solution (it doesn't have to be a long-term one, *if you can find a better option*, but we need to get cracking, and FAST); the only major candidate who spoke positively about it was Andrew Yang, who get SMASHED in the 2020 primaries (although his "take the second-worst idea of his campaign and make it the CORNERSTONE of his campaign" strategy didn't help).
I think you meant to say Flag Bearer" ? I am in agreement with you in many cases, and do not understand our involvement in MANY, but wonder why NOT in others. We should have stopped the Russian invasion of Ukraine (in my opinion only) as they have literally DESTROYED that country and killed many innocent people, and then look at the debacle in Vietnam? Jesus killed 52,000 men and then tucked our fucking tails and withdrew. I don't want to debate anyone, just express an opinion that may be at odds with others
Well thank you so much for sharing your valuable thoughts.. And yes I meant flag bearer.. Sry about that haha.. Ukraine invasion could have been stopped if russia warnings were taken seriously at the right time.. West never took it seriously and no one predicted that putin will walk in... Terrible. But thank you for your opinion.
Yes absolutely right. We as a citizens are only there to pay taxes no matter in which country you live in.. Only top leaders decides fate of thier citizens.. Its like they are living just to rule us.

The US is the criminal uncle in every matter around the world. It's neither the "flag bearer" or the "policeman" it has the pretensions of being.
We keep the US around only because it's useful. But with China become more useful and less problematic, it's only a matter of time before we do to the USA what we did to the Soviet Union.
I m not sure whether it's turning out to be useful - US involvement... but it's becoming stressful for sure. Their measures are surely creating rifts in South Asia.. Sometimes I feel they along with west are just poking Ukraine.. I completely agree Ukraine invasion was totally wrong and should have been avoided.. But no one took Russia seriously.. And now as a result 4 of their provinces are under Russia I guess.. Which is terrible..
I'm tired of subsidizing the militaries of European countries. I'm tired of my government interfering in the affairs of other countries and I'm left holding the bill for it.
Exactly... I feel so irritating and get angry thinking about the innocent soldiers who are fighting not exactly for US but for someone else.
The UK and the Commonwealth are the only trustworthy allies the United States has. Leave the rest to fend for themselves for all I care.
And the allies do interfere in policies of other countries.. Don't you think so?
We come in because governments around the world insist we do. I think most Americans wound be fine walking away from most of the world.
Well with all due respect I beg to differ.. There might b cases where intervention was asked but in most of the cases it was never required... M not refering to the interventions that was asked by the Alies from US.. But thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. Appreciate it.
The US does what it does for the benefit of US companies, particularly arms manufacturers. The US only cares about money, not your welfare.
Honestly I also think in that way to a certain extent...
Agreed
@KrakenAttackin I am familiar with the extent of the lobbying that defense contractors engage in. It is far from trivial, and there is a reason for that.
@KrakenAttackin I hate politics!
Its either us or every country starts an arms race. Thoughts?
@OddBeMe This is a key point. The US started being the "worlds police" in an effort to prevent nuclear proliferation. There are several countries that could create nuclear weapons very quickly (i. e. Japan who sits on over 40 tons of plutonium). This is why we keep bases and make treaties of mutual defense.
@KrakenAttackin do we want germany to build another army?
@KrakenAttackin wheres your piece of paper chamberlain lol
@KrakenAttackin I've never really understood US imperialism. We invaded Iraq on false premises, but we didn't take it over.
@KrakenAttackin i kinda like that we dont keep the real estate. But Cheney did set up his old partners at haliburton with a sweet defense contracts. So its kinda like corporate imperialism.
america sucks
Well no country has perfect policies my dear friend..
U seems really angry...
