Guys, I don't understand why it's that big of a deal. Yes, I'm 47% English, 28% French Canadian/European French, 18% German, 6% Native American (Cherokee), but I'm also 1% Japanese.

Are you asking if you're allowed to be participant in Korean traditions, or if you're legitimately Asian? Because, to the first one, I'd say of course! But the second one... absolutely not. You should know that. My French Canadian father participated in Mexican traditions with my maternal side of the family, but never had he onced claimed to be Mexican.

Actually, I won't fully disagree with you because many Mexicans have Spanish ancestrial backgrounds, but most Mexicans are indigenous. Would you claim that Native Americans are white? No, probably not. Indigneous Mexicans exist like indigenous Americans do, and many indigenous Mexicans still live in Mexico today. My mother is Mestizo, meaning that she's a mix of both European (Spanish) and Indigenous.

Even if I'm approximately 10% Japanese, 10% Vietnamese, 20% Chinese, 30% Spanish and 30% Filipino which is true, I don't speak any of their languages nor follow their culture. And I'm not even living in those countries so I don't consider myself any of them except I'm living in Philippines with Filipino culture which makes me Filipino. So I can't belong to their communities unless I grew up in any of those places, I wouldn't be Filipino. It just doesn't take a genius. Even those Asian Americans who grew up in USA generations after generations of not connecting to their ancestral countries, they can't be a part of the Asian communities anymore even if they're full blooded Asians. But they are still welcomed to join in with their activities and locals as long as they're respectful. And that includes white people either. As long as you're respectful and not delusional and calling us about "uneducated" about Asian culture then you'd much more be respected. You act like you know Asian culture better than them lol.

That is why when I married my husband, he was celebrated and welcomed by the extensive area Asian community. They cheered when we included traditional Filipino activities into our reception, and they all helped out at our wedding by bringing foods from their culture as appetizers.

I'm not saying it's the norm, but it also isn't common for most people in interracial relationships to start claiming to be part of the racial community their spouse is born into.
I was in an interracial marriage, I have a Mixed Race child, and my best friend growing up since grade 3 was a Native boy. I basically grew up at his house with his family, and I've been in close proximity to Native people my whole life, I was god father to my Native niece, but even I don't go around with some fantasy notion, identifying as Native. At some point she'd got to be real and claim her White community too.

I told her specifically that marrying her husband does not make her an Asian. Her answer was "Uh so? My kids are Mixed Race." Then I told her that her kids are part of the White, Asian, and Mixed Race communities because they are half White, half Korean.
