Can I call myself Asian American if I’m only mixed?

I’m half Chinese and half white, but I’m not sure if I can call myself Asian American or Chinese American just to make things quicker when introducing my racial and ethnic identity.

All are correct labels for you. Call yourself whatever you feel comfortable with or identify with.

I'm mixed with multiple ethnicities and I identify as mixed or specifically state I am both Black and White. I refuse to allow anyone to distance me from any part of my heritage. My little brother identifies as black, because he relates to the African American culture more. My kids are about 75% white, and they can still identify as black or white if they want. One chose white because he doesn't look black enough for anyone to believe he is. My daughter is more tan and doesn't identify as much of anything. Those are their personal choices to make.

None of our choices are wrong, and whatever you choose for yourself is right for YOU.

Call yourself what you want. Honestly, people will see you how they want to see you anyhow. And that's their issue not yours. I dated an Asian girl. I went in knowing she was Korean from another person. But I wouldn't have known otherwise. It's not like I look Scottish I wouldn't expect her to be able to guess that about me.
