I'm half Asian. Why does my friend tell everyone we meet that I'm Asian?

I'm half Asian and half white, my friend is just white. Every time we meet people when we're out drinking, my friend says "did you know my friend is Asian?" Or if we are in a group with new people she will say something like "I'm ____. Can you guess her name? (gestures to me) And don't be racist." And if I'm talking to a guy in front of her she will 'joke' "So do you like Asians then?"

This happens EVERY time we meet somebody new, and it's getting old. I've snapped at her once and she acted like I offended her, and she continued to do the same thing, just not in front of me. She will tell people I'm Asian in private to new people we meet.

Why might she do this? How can I navigate this weird dynamic in our friendship?

I used to hang out with this kid that treated the people he was around like a bunch of social trophies. After a bit of digging I determined he was actually a sociopath that was just using people to get attention.


Now he has no friends.

Why might she do this? She's racist?
