Because for Western elites, most of whom are inspired by Marxism or a derivative of it like intersectionality, nazi is one of the things they call anyone who disagrees with them. Conservatives tend to constantly point out hypocrisy on the left, as if it matters. The reality is that all important cultural and bureaucratic institutions are captured by the left, so they have the luxury of hypocrisy without consequence. Still, this is why conservatives spend time calling the left the “real nazis.”

They were National Socialists with the "National" part of it being more prominent. Its a lazy person who assumes Socialists and Communists are the same, let alone National Socialists (Nazi for short). You would not call a nationalist party left wing, its right wing by its nature of inclusivity
