Why do conservatives have a mentality that if liberals supposedly denied the 2016 election results then trump has a right to overthrow 2020?

…. except liberals didn’t deny the 2016 results. They didn’t allege any widespread fraud. Trump got fairly substantial help from Russia in that election and they kept raising the possibility that the campaign colluded with Russia to damage him politically. What Trump did in 2020 was an attempt at a soft coup. Nothing justifies it and it was some straight up fascist shit.

I distinctially recall liberals calling the elections of 2016 "hijacked" so they did do that.

@Harbringer26 Hijacked by Russian interference, yes, which was valid. Russia flooded social media with pro-Trump propaganda and there was the release of hacked emails to hurt the Clinton campaign. Trump had foreign help. This is what they were talking about. I don’t recall anyone claiming the vote itself was fraudulent or disputing any ballots. The result was accepted. They wanted collusion investigated but didn’t attempt to undermine the democratic process.

There were also mass protests with burning American flags following Trump's victory by the left, so accepting the results is quite a relative claim. As for the Russian interference, I am not American but back from when this was a hot topic I recall conflicting reports on whether or not collusion actually ocurred, the Mueller investigation I believe even said there was insufficient evidence of it. Now that it's possible and maybe even likely sure. But I tend to not trust media on face value regarding deep-governmental claims like these.
As for the e-mails, Hillary's deleted files was a debated concern long before the election took place. If any such got "leaked" whether by Russia or other people, her actions are on her for those existing in the first place.

@Harbringer26 Neither of the articles you provide here allege voter fraud. They reference voter suppression efforts, which have unfortunately become part of Republican ideology. Polling places are closed in urban areas, making voting more difficult. Legitimate voters were “accidentally” removed from voter rolls in election year purges, etc. These are the types of shenanigans being referenced here. I would also point out the left did not submit fraudulent electors to Congress or pressure public officials to simply overturn the results, nor did they storm the Capital and try to stop the transfer of power by force. The criticisms of the anomalies in the 2016 election were far more subdued. The Mueller report did not find active collusion, only that the campaign was aware of the foreign interference and unscrupulously sought to maximize it.
