How do you feel about the death penalty?

Im not for the death penalty.
It costs us SO much money in tax dollars to execute someone in a fashion that isn't "cruel & unusual".
So I'm all for putting "death penalty" recipients into a padded room with a little elevator to put the tray of food on & leaving them in solitary until they die. We are social creatures, we NEED interaction with others to stay sane. So build individual sound proof cells below ground (with plumbing of course), drop the POD in there & remember to feed them. That's it.

Pros:
1. Cheaper than paying for their room and board.
2. Quicker as it needs to be done just once and the parasite is gone.
3. It is final so there doesn't need to be any second guessing to bog things down.
4. More comforting to victims as they no longer have to worry about escape or whatever.

Cons:
1. Guilt is not a guarantee as our justice system is flawed.
2. Requires someone to kill a person without the righteous cause of self defense.
3. People who might have loved the executed person will no longer have access to them in reality and will turn to their idealized version of them, possibly risking radicalization.
4. Plays to our most uncivilized instincts.

Your "pro" #1 is not true, it costs tax payers more money to execute someone than to keep them locked up for the rest of their days. I did a paper on it in college when I was going for my paralegal degree.

Interesting. I suppose I meant only that it could be cheaper, if we aren't too picky about being humane. I did know that it wasn't but didn't know it was actually more expensive. Wonder what is driving the expense.

terrible, but should be used in other cases where it wasn't. just make absolute sure they are the criminal else don't use it, because I feel worse about killing innocent. That's the whole point of all the law... stop hurting innocent people. Killing the wrong person by force is the ultimate abuse of power.

It's necessary in many cases and it should be legal in more countries. Some countries are too soft when it comes to giving sentences to criminals.

Depends on the severity of the crime. It's a must in heinous crimes such as rape.

A slap on the wrist for torturing and killing a person should not be allowed. I wouldn't mind being the only murderer if that's what it took.

I never said I wanted to fix things. I just want them gone. Some of those murderers get like 15 years and they're out while they took away a person's life.
