The 8th Circuit Court of Appeals issued a stay prohibiting the administration from "discharging any student loan debt" under its loan forgiveness plan until it rules on an emergency request by six Republican states – Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and South Carolina – as an attempt to block the policy.

Another demonstration of the punitive, authoritarian, sadistic nature of Republicans. Billions for defense contractors, not a dime for the rest of us.

The discharging of federal-backed student debt amounts to an additional tax on the public. EVERY US President does NOT have the singular authority to add taxes or additional expenditures upon the country.

THAT specific authority rests on the House of Representatives where those must originate. Spending bills are authorized by the President AFTER the Legislative branch votes on them. This is WHY the Judiciary stopped it. Regardless of what states enjoined a legal response, the 8th Circuit Court ruled correctly.

Therefore, Biden's Executive Order to cancel student debt is an illegal EO. I hope this goes all the way to the SCOTUS where they can back the 8th Circuit's ruling and permanently shut down this fiasco.

The students took out the loans WITH the full knowledge THEY were responsible for paying it back. It's bullshit to dump their debt, their responsibility on the rest of the country. This is a typical liberal move, by not accepting personal responsibility for their actions!

It's about avoiding a dictatorship. Every POTUS since W has tried to create law by decree. Mr. Biden does not have the constitutional power to do what he is trying to do. It's for everyone's ultimate benefit if the issue is left where it properly belongs, with Congress.

The bill didn't get passed through Congress and Biden tried to use his executive powers to ignore democracy.
